Electric motor mount / frame

Post by M0tWat » Mar 23 2020 2:10pm

Hi!

I've recently bought a go-kart chassis without a gas engine and mount. Now I'd like to find a good way to attach my electric motor (Golden Motor HPM3000) to it. I have a 90º metal bracket that I could use, but I'm not sure how exactly I could attach it to the chassis and whether it's a good plan at all. Any ideas?

Hi
Do you have the sprocket that goes to the motor shaft? First I would make a drawing of the motor mounting holes and then proceed to fabricate/machine the metal part that you have. Once that it's done, you will need to align the sprocket on the rear axle and the sprocket on the motor. Then I would figure out a way of attaching it to the frame (I think it would work great with adjustable clamps and bolts through).
I came up with a design with some guessed dimensions about your photos. I found the motor dimensions and used it.
Here's the design:

Hope it helps! If you have any questions feel free to ask me. Stay safe and good luck with the project!
PS: What motor controller are you using? I also built an electric go kart with a cheap e-bike controller that broke and I'm searching for a good reliable one.
Thanks.
