BBS 01 on 52 volts

Post by Waynemarlow » May 04 2017 9:19am

Hi,

Thinking of building a lightweight mtb mid drive up for my wife to ride, she doesn't need too much power and she doesn't need too much weight. Now the BBS 01is quite a compact and relatively light unit and with a 36T front ring, would have to be pretty ideal. Now I'll probably stick to a Bafung as I have the BBS02 unit which I think is pretty good once you program it to suit your requirements ( its terrible on the manufacturers settings unless you ride road), but my unit runs at 52 volts, probably way over the top as far as power goes for her.

Now I don't really want to change batteries and chargers, far better off to have the same for both bikes, but the weight and size of the BBS 02 is probably too much. Now Bafung do a 48 volt version of the BBS 01, has anyone run 52 volts on one ? I can control the max power by programming it down and I can program it to use less startup current, but ?

Comments please.

Thanks.

I believe the BBS01 and BBS02 use the same width and length of motor lamination stack in the stator. It is only the winding Kv that is different, so the 36V version and the 48V version both have the same output RPMs.

OK, has the later version of the BBS01 got the later mosfet board on it as well ?

Also I found a website some time ago which had all the weights of the various versions of the 01 and 02 motors, it doesn't seem to be there any more, does anyone know the exact weights and sizes between the two.

Thanks.

The width of the 01 rotor and the 02 rotor differs a little bit.
That's why they are sold in two versions at greenbikekit.
The Controller of version B has updated MosFETs in it.
