Re: Samsung 40T and other cells like it?

Feeling a little A.D.D here, but have a few thoughts because I've been pondering these cells for a future pack build... Mostly just thinking out loud though... The 80c max cell temperature noted in many spec sheets is the point where irreversible damage is sure to occur, not a recommendation for ave...

Re: Reasons for excessive FET temps?

I don't have it open at the moment but will see if I can find some high res photos of the internals. I did however find the following video and around 1:13 it looks like there might be one nestled there in the middle between two fets. Hard to say for certain though at the moment. https://www.youtube...

Re: Seperating Lipo cells in a pack? Methyl Alcohol!!!

So for the second Lipo cell to be removed I used a brand new exacto blade (medium size) and dribbled methyl alcohol down between the cells to be seperated. The blade slides slowly down between the cells as the glue lets go, and it makes it very easy! Think I'd err towards a plastic putty kn...

Re: Reasons for excessive FET temps?

Does anyone know how exactly the controller determines mosfet temp? It's almost certainly a thermistor. They are cheap, small and simple. There are ways to use specialized FETs to measure internal die temperature, but then you are locked into a specific (and expensive) FET. Beautiful, that's exactl...

Re: Reasons for excessive FET temps?

Giving this a bit more thought... Does anyone know how exactly the controller determines mosfet temp? I'm familiar with the concept of measuring temperature using changes in wire resistance and suspect the controller is doing something along those lines to determine temps, but that is a wild guess a...

Re: Reasons for excessive FET temps?

So, a little update. I disassembled the bike with the intent on relocating the controller to the exterior but as it turned out I would have needed to rewire a number of things to more appropriate lengths and I wasn't really prepared to do it all on that day, so it went back together with the control...

Re: Positve Voltage b/w Battery Negative and Frame

"If I hold one lead of the voltmeter in my hand and place the other on the negative terminal of the battery, again I get a reading but of 3 to 4 Volts." Changed the batteries in your volt meter lately? No. Do you mean to say that I should? I'd give it a shot. If you're holding one probe with your f...

Re: Zoom DH1100 fork

I'd figure out what they're retailing for before tax or shipping and just list it at that price initially. If someone local is interested they'll already be getting a deal buying from you. If it doesn't sell you can always relist at a lower price. Then I'd install a DVO Emerald, assuming I could con...

Re: "BadPowerBikes" LOL: Hate Site or Consumers Fighting Back?

This is intriguing. I was initially reminded of my beginnings into the ebike world when I was trying to research local vendors. Long story short each of them were poisoning each others online reviews with fake accounts and bolstering their own reviews with even more fake accounts. It didn't take lon...

None. You have your personal assistant stand there and hold it upright until you get back.

HK12, HERE in Alberta, Manitoba, coldest places of CAnada there will always be engine heater plug in of course free. For customers, it is standard On many, many parking places. The problem is I noticed some businesses turn of power on such parkings in summer. It just take 2,3, 4 ?? EV when mostly s...

Re: Juicing Up Pictures

I would never buy coffee to charge my ebike , no way, I have a kitchen in my house, I have thermos also to carry with me. In the unlikely event that e-bikes grow in number to the extent that they become recognized as an important component of transportation, then I'm pretty sure that we'll see more...

Re: QS v3 hub motor fat tire wheel build

Could be their "We don't really want to do it" price. If it were me I'd go to some local motorcycle shops and see if they have a wheelbuilder in-house. The better bicycle shops often have competent wheel builders on staff as well. Someone out there should be both willing and able to sort you out, th...

now I get it, a shunt measures the current and the controller controls the current? but why do you butter shunts to get more amps, that's what made me think a shunt regulated current to 40 or whatever amp its rated at afaik, which is admittedly very little, the shunt in the controller is essentiall...

Re: Gell'ed Boiled Linseed Oil

Got any isopropyl? That might do it. Works best in a ziplock stuffed in a hot water bath, not that I've used it on linseed oil. Edit: I've also had luck using other oils to soften and loosen hardened gummed oil based substances. Once dissolved, a final clean in dish soap usually does the trick. yymv...

...and I'd have to crimp like 125 pins or so. Not to mention the actual parallel connections I'd have to do up.

Yeah, I'll go with the $50 worth of prebuilt from BuddyRC on this one. Already had the page bookmarked, so if ES says they're alright I'll take the plunge.
