Re: DIY battery enclosures

Amazing topic. This is sooooo overlooked.... For some reason everybody seems to skip this very important topic,as if it didn't matter... I did ask myself these same questions and I still do now for some more recent battery builds... Links to things i found: Finding large premade battery enclosures: ...

Re: OVERCLOCKING an ANCHEER 20 inch folding ebike (Model AM001908 36V20" 250W)

r.jpg s.jpg Man I dunno If it's because of my copper connection, but my battery I built for my ancheer has pretty good low internal resistance for this kind of mid-end cells. I charged it up to 100% (58.8V, measured with DVM). But shoot, It was raining for days. Finally though I should discharge to...

Re: 36V Battery bms question

Aka check the vaue of your controller (Max amp draw), multiply by 1.25 or 1.5 and chose that amp value for BMS

A guy burnt his 250W moter using 14S battery, but running 35Amps !!! Here's his result : https://etrike.wordpress.com/2013/05/12/my-bafang-lost-its-teeth/ And here's his initial story : https://etrike.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/my-bafang-is-up-for-a-little-overhaul/ https://etrike.wordpress.com/2013/...

Re: How can I charge/test a 4-cell pack in a single slot of a charger?

You can. The opus will charge each slot with 1A current. This current is low enought to not overheat your small BMS wires... So yes you could technically do it. But this is temporary and wont fix your defective cells.

Re: 25R low lifespan?

Also, pulling 110A through 8 of these is pushing it too far... 14Amp throug each 8mm x 0.15mm nickel strips is very likely to generate much more heat than the discharging cells themselves from their intrinsect internal resistance. The nickel strips can take 3.6amps .... maybe 6 to 8 amps for short b...

Re: 25R low lifespan?

All welds are in place, physically brand new. Could it be maybe loss of conductivity from the nickels? Is there such thing? each cell is connected with 8mm wide 0.15mm thick pure nickel and 20Ah is 8 cells in parallel No. Nickel conductivity will not change over time. The conductivity (which is the...

Re: 25R low lifespan?

Ever day for 10 months = 305 cycles.
How deep of a discharge cycle each day ????
If it's close to 14A per cell and 305 full cycles, than yes I would expect that kind of lifespan, but that's just my opinion...

Re: Metal planetary gears?

If you need that strength to jump your bike, you'll just break the key that secures the gear set. You can't do a lot of hucking with the geared motors. But happily, replacing that key is pretty easy. If the key doesn't shear like it should, then you might wreck the clutch. When you do catch some sm...

Re: PSA: dont underspec your strips

With all due respect. I think these consideration are not really relevant. I used Sn60Pb40 solder, which has a melting point of 188°C (370°F). There is absolutely no way I will ever bring these cells higher than 50°C during their cycle life, even if I pull very hard on them. If you think about it o...

Re: OVERCLOCKING an ANCHEER 20 inch folding ebike (Model AM001908 36V20" 250W)

From looking at the first video that I link in the start of this thread about the motor, I am now convinced that the moter uses three 28 teeth planetary gear. The largest gear in the housing has 74 teeth and the centrat gear has 18 teeth. So in theory, this geared motor has a ratio of 74/18 = 4.1 to...

A relatively large, soft, semi-liquid contact might actually carry a greater current than those tiny poorly bonded welded contacts depicted in the photos of the OP. As I noted previously, the technology available today in regards to soldering, is MUCH improved over my lifetime. While coppers have a...
