These lights are only to beautify the case. Everyone knows that.

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Just as the forum suggested, I did not check the torque on the crank arm bolts, and I lost one during a ride. Found the crank and pedal, but the bolt is long gone. Does anyone know what standard those crank arm bolts are? I tried one I had laying around and the threads were not right. I don't have ...

In China there is no way to tell what came first the egg or the chicken, unless it is a fake egg. These definitely come first and chickens are not part of the process. Check that out  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvEBN8Jd5DE

Re: Small and big block rickshaw motors on Amazon.

Its a clone of the cyclone (Denzel D4500) motors. http://www.eastgem.net/d4500.html Chinese motors are all clones. With these motors it is impassible to tell which one is better because Chinese will cut corners every time they make something. Still for $100 with controller they might be worth the r...

Re: Small and big block rickshaw motors on Amazon.

Bigger than Cyclone 3kW and 2-4kW, with a lot less torque and a fraction of the power? What am I missing? Is the controller just a place holder for the real thing? Price and compactness. Both are very important for a light e-bike build. Now if you planning to build e-tractor Cyclone is a way to go....

Yes, you can take it all out. This is exactly the same motor that LR is selling for $250/$350 and that without a controller.
And you better be nice or he will not sell it to you.

Re: Yet another 18650 battery build.

With BMS you don't know what is going on until your pack is not working. I don't trust BMS boards made in China and I'm definitely not paranoid if comes to Li-ion batteries. Except it is BT BMS that has a big display and BT connection to your Android to show you more then your testers will ever sho...

Re: Yet another 18650 battery build.

I built my own 18650 battery pack and decided on not using BMS. I have a volt meter, the anti spark connector, two battery testers and a maxi fuse. For BMS I use my brain. It works for me. Good luck man, don't have a brain fart, they are explosive! I've been using my pack for over 9 months ...

Give yourself a favor and don't buy gear driven version of this drive. I'm not saying that chain drive is going to work well, but I'm saying that geared type will not for sure. You need very solid structure to use gear drive and you will never have that much rigidity on the bike. That's why everyon...

Re: AVIAN featherweight mid drive

I read ya. More power = more fun. With 80 mm motor and VESC 6 that I have I will be running my kit at 2400 to 3000 W continues and 5000 W peak power. Most of that at the wheel thanks to my very efficient transmission. That trany runs so well I can turn it backwards by hand. Also, it runs lukewarm so...

I also race sailboats and have hundreds of other excuses. I'll get to it eventually. My Alien 80 mm motor was $163 and shipping $28. So, total p...

After more than 2000 miles I had my first failure. The twisting force of freewheel pulled heads of three screws that hold the backing plate.

I increased screws to six and in the future build I will use 80% stronger screws.

Re: Bosch mid drive with vesc controller

Thank you for the post. I will definitely use that knowledge on my build. :bigthumb:
Couple of questions:
How is the torque sensor connected to power and is the signal from the sensor wired to the controller?
Is the torque sensor inside of the bottom bracket?
Thanks

Q128h it's not a direct drive, it's a geared motor. I had one and it's very powerfull, the same as bpm. But when i try to use in hard off road i burn the motor quickly :-( on the road it' a good motor, plenty of power (48v 20a) and my wheight it's 104kg That's only 1000W. I would't call 3000W a ver...

Hi With vesc6 like controller you don’t need hall sensors With Skate board they need it in some cases but main benefit of vesc that it can work without halls and with your reduction vesc will speen motor more then enought to star with good power without sunc problems Now you add 8 weak points to yo...
