Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Why not? Actually I tried fully sealed bearings last time and I didn't like them. Sure they might be better at keeping crap out, but one; I've never had issues with dirt messing up shielded bearings in any of my motor's, two; the increased resistance is definately noticible at least when turning by...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Just got my disc side cover off and bearings out. The disc side cover came off easy without damaging the wires at all. Because the axle narrows for the threaded section just where the wires exit the hole and there is a minor recess there, the wire actually fits under the bearing without issue. This...

Re: How may watts needed for 25 MPH etc?

Thanks, The simulator is old. but useful. For example, no LI batteries. Simulator was created some time ago, yes, but has many types of default batteries including lithium packs, but either way this changes nothing, enter custom ranges if you want. The simulator has also been updated very often, ev...

Re: Bad Controller ?

To agree with and add to what d8veh said, I'd take the connectors apart, inspect them for signs of corrosion/bent pins, make sure they are dry and apply a little dielectric grease to them. Then I'd replug them all together a few times, this will help wipe away any potential corrosion making sure the...

Re: How hard is it to lace a motor to a new rim?

With patience, time and knowledge, lacing a rim (the easy part) is very achievable, as is building the wheel entirely. In fact, I'd probably go so far as to say it'd probably be wise to rebuild just about any stock hub motor wheel you get as most wheels I've seen come with less than ideal components...

If I knew how to find your answer with certainty, I promise you I would have told you. I've never tried something like this, the methods for this are a mystery to myself. However, using a search engine is likely to help a lot, at least answer some of the questions. For example, search "removing pott...

What capacity is equivalent to five batteries 6-dzm-20? Look for 60V20Ah packs. em3ev.com lunacycle.com You might ask one of these well reputable places to make you a pack. http://lunacycle.com/batteries/packs/60v-25ah-samsung-inr-25r/ This pack'd probably do ya. Re: ADAPTTO Controllers - new functions discussion

Another feature that would be nice is to be able to select throttle voltage or cruise speed through the controller. This way in case of a throttle failure you can drive the bike home. I've had to push my 130lbs ebike home a few miles already after my throttle gave out and it wasn't fun. How would y...

For the FF to work does the motor need to be spinning? I'm not sure if where the FF pools if it will make contact with the stator when the motor is not spinning. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=178687 Ferrofluid is a fluid that is influenced my magnets, it sticks to magnets (...

By "Good luck" you mean that it is impossible to figure out what communication it is? He likely means he is out of ideas, nothing is impossible, though. If one were so inclined, perhaps the potting material could be chemically removed, maybe mechanically, maybe a combination of the two, who knows, ...

if you have an handheld electric screw driver, you could use it as a spoke tensionner since the tightning torque can be adjusted. I had the same idea a while back. What I was told and learned was that there can be variables in details like the threads and even their coatings that will inhibit any s...

Re: Long time listener, first time builder

Have you checked out em3ev.com? Mac hub motors are pretty popular geared hub motors, certainly worth considering. I'd also go with their custom lacing, electric bicycles seem to have some of spoke/rim issues, I am sure you care for dependability, a solid wheel build is an important detail to conside...

Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

It's not the bottleneck at low power, but the shell becomes the bottleneck at higher power. Otherwise we'd never see significant temps at the shell. The thermal conductivity of an unmodified MXUS motor shell to ambient is about 20 Watts/degree at 60ph. So with 1000 watts of waste heat being dumped ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBseRk30xMs Can you use a pair of calipers to measure the diameter of the spokes to show spoke diameter? What measurement do you come up with in millimeters? The reason the lacing of the wheel seems so easy in your build is because the lacing pattern is basically rad...

Re: One hall sensor possible in BLDC controller?

I was contemplating brushless motor control and ways to simplify it. There are single phase brusless motors, but those are usually used only for low power because of high torque ripple. It seems it could be possible to get the benefit of a single hall sensor that a single phase BLDC ought to need, ...

I'm actually glad it was my fault. I had no idea it was even possible to tighten spokes on a tire. And my wheel came in with really loose spokes - combination of those 2 things caused this. But the guys are lunacycles said just mail it back and they will check the motor out and remount if on a bran...
