Re: BMS Wiring - complexity at connector vs in harness

They are not gasketed (IMHO, we call sealed boxes "Aquariums" as they tend to pump humidity out of the air into the box) but they are designed with open face potting the container in mind. they are also somewhat freindly to fence-and-fill coatings.

Re: BMS Wiring - complexity at connector vs in harness

Take a look at the JAE MX23 series if you are after sealed right angle connectors. Way less bulky than (I assume) the ampseal you were thinking about. Termnals are cheaper, and housings cheaper aswell. JAE likes to frock people on the crimping tool though, so its kinda the high buy in and low runnin...

There is a voltage scaling feature in advanced setup used for calibration, It may function in a way that is useful to you.

How long can u fly?
It is a piloted aircraft, so ill be flying it. As far as run time goes, I am hoping for an hour plus ~15 mins of margin.

Re: Farfles Electric Ultralight.

Battery modules are mounted up! CG math says this will get close, but its pretty early on in the weight and balance game, so we will see how much these will have to change. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss15/Farflemotors/image-20170713_174515_zpsxxja3lcb.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...

Most of us that have or do, have at least gone to solo with conventional. Absolutely brilliant and impressive build. Man! The work with aluminum and rivets is first class! What they heck is your trade? As a relatively new fella I know your name from a swing arm. (one I'm always on the lookout for a...

Re: Farfles Electric Ultralight.

The combined airspeed and altimeter were all I ever needed. Getting a low range airspeed indicator is important for aircraft like this since accuracy at the bottom of the scale is more important than at the top of it. The Stratomaster I have (its sitting on a shelf if you are interested in buying i...

Re: Farfles Electric Ultralight.

I suspect you will be able to push that motor pretty hard with the massive amount of air cooling available. I have seen it fly on an Earthstar Thundergull which is a much bigger and heavier plane. The Belite is likely half the weight. IIRC the thundergull is running the longer stator version of thi...

Re: Farfles Electric Ultralight.

The downside of course is that you are always flying around with full tanks as far as W+B goes. It is less of a problem in a single seat plane but I rarely fill the tanks in my Cherokee because it limits what you can carry and slows you down when you don't need it. You have quite a bit going on in ...

Re: Farfles Electric Ultralight.

Something that I just thought of is the "fuel" weight. In a conventional aircraft, the fuel tank(s) have to be located where their changing weight (as the fuel is used up) will not adversely affect the balance of the aircraft. In the past, some long-range aircraft would use up fuel near the center ...

Looks like it will have tons of power. Belite makes neat little planes.
It should be OK. However the term "Dry weight" is being with modules removed if need be.

The pack is 29Ah per cell with 4 in paralell for a roughly 12kwhr pack. Pack weight will be right at 67KGs

Great project--can't wait to see it flying. What's the kV of that motor and what is the gear reduction? What size prop are you planning on spinning? I am going to be embarking on a similar project with high school students. Starting in September we will be fabricating the EMG-6 (https://electricmot...
