Re: Post your DRAG RACE ebike run !!

If you had the controller phase amps available to still saturate the stator, you could run a turn or two less and performance would improve including efficiency at speed. There are no high torque and low torque winding motors, only adequate and inadequate controllers for the application. How do I t...

Re: Post your DRAG RACE ebike run !!

I just found this thread, lots of fun. Great results from both Luke and Doc! I'm now tempted to give this a go. I've got a buddy with a newly purchased V-Box. I'll try and borrow it. I'm running a very similar setup to Doc's but with the 3.5T motor. Very similar power levels (20S ~200 battery amps ~...

Re: Buying newer, more expensive used cars

bought a '14 Nissan leaf with 19K miles for $7750. It's perfectly adequate for my daily driving needs of ~20 miles and I only charge it every 3 days or so. Well a liter is $1.00 here, and a gallon is 3.8L = 1G so $4.80CDN/Gallon which is $3.57USD/Gallon. An average car can go 10km on 1L so 20 miles...

Re: Buying newer, more expensive used cars

If you are looking for a good deal in your general price range. Used Nissan Leaf's are a smoking deal right now. Price is low, low due to newer cars that have longer range, and the 2018 Leaf that will have a LOT longer range. I just bought a '14 Nissan leaf with 19K miles for $7750. It's perfectly a...

Re: Ebay Fraud - ebike kit - xcceries seller

If you want a flawless "turn key" experience, then why are you buying a kit? Kit implies that you'll have to do somethings yourself. In this case, the amount of DIY compared to actually installing the kit is minuscule.

I've been using a pull Tripwire on my Shimano SLX brakes with great success. Once you get it installed, it just works. Simple, cheap, fast, and works on almost any brake setup.

Re: Repeat DUI driver kills cyclist, gets 6 years

There are all kinds of road/bike path layouts and designs that would partially/mostly/entirely prevent these kinds of tragedies. The bike path could be divided from the road by a concrete barrier. The bike path could be over or under the vehicular path. The bike path could be a separate road 200 fe...

One-Wheel trailer for EEB/Vector/Stealth type bikes?

As I continue to enjoy using my EEB bike as my main commuter, it's clear that I need a bit of storage beyond my backpack. I need to be able to bring some groceries home after work, or a place to put guns and ammo on my way to the range. Something like the moto-mule would be perfect. Moto-mule's webs...

My great weakness is in Mechanical Modeling and automated machining. Dont get me wrong... I can build stuff. I can use all tools. I can draw what I want and make it. I can middle-man the production of all sorts of stuff... but what I cant do... is sit down at a terminal, draw what I want to be cut ...

Not in my opinion. I run twice that on a 100lb bike and think it's just about right.

After being frustrated with the lack of GOOD BMS options, I had resolved today to begin the design of my own. Low and behold, you're doing exactly what I set out to do. I'll be watching this closely and am very ready and willing to help as a motivated EE.

What do you mean? 18s 120a sounds like a battery. Is 120a the maximum discharge rate? Link to the battery?

The Hubsink looks like a nice unit, is that a good way to go as far as a heat sink? I tried to find the Sabvoton 60A controller on Ebikes.ca but had trouble finding it, I'll keep looking. Like to hear any other recommendations of sinewave controllers that might be a nice fit for one of these hubs. ...

Did you install the Ferro Fluid or was it in the motor already? Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk I put the Ferrofluid in. It was super simple. I just drilled a small hole in the outside of the motor casing, being careful not to drill into the windings. I then put all 10ml of FF in and used some...

Yes, that would work, but if you ever had to remove the rear wheel you'd need the chain splitter again because of the vertical drop out.

The controller says that it's max amperagE delivered so far is 172.8 amps. That's likely from a max acceleration start from zero. Batteries are listed in the OP. I'm not sure I need one. I'm still experimenting there. I see a lot of people using one as a chain tensioner so I started out that way.

Optimal Regen Braking Settings

I'm trying to determine the optimal way to setup regen on my Mobipus controller. The Mobipus allows you to set a maximum pack voltage for enabling regen, and it allows you to set a "turn back on" voltage after having exceeded the other max. For example: Given a 10 cell pack you can say "If when you ...
