Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Ahh !.. “Belief confirmation by Repetition” ( If you tell yourself something often enough, eventually you will believe it !) Nope. Confirmation through science. There is no evidence that the increasing Atmospheric CO2 is due to fossil fuel use. We have basic math. We know how many gigatons we are p...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

There is no proven linkage between the measured increase in atmospheric CO2 and Fossil Fuel use. Again I have listed four facts. 1) CO2 is increasing in our atmosphere - fact. 2) It is from our burning of fuels - fact. 3) CO2 is a greenhouse gas - fact. Thus, more CO2 would be expected to cause war...

Insurance is based on risk assessment,...cause analysis of known events, etc ..IE FACT based. Another excellent point! Insurance companies take the fact based approach. ========== Holding the Bill Insurance companies and lenders are responding to climate change — by shifting risk to taxpayers. By N...

If the thermometer hadn't been invented, let alone left to the whims of humans and record keeping, what clues would you draw on to see that the temperature has gone up or not? Trump took that approach to COVID-19 testing - if you don't test, then the disease doesn't spread, because the numbers don'...

For the same reason you pay auto insurance... you may not plan to have an accident, but there are plenty of other possibilities from other drivers, falling trees, hail, etc etc. Excellent point! So you pay money now to protect yourself from things that are likely to happen in the future! A great ar...

You can SEE the fire dept, you KNOW what they will do if your pants catch fire You KNOW that some unfortunate day you WILL need them Only in your imagination. I have owned homes for 25 years. No fires! You must either be really careless or have an active imagination. Why should we all pay just beca...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

But a carbon tax is just a money grab on based on a theoretical benefit IE they are expecting you to “believe” in the returns. A carbon tax reduces carbon emissions and thus reduces economic impact caused by climate change. That damage is estimated to be $250 billion by 2025 and $1.9 trillion (in 2...

So you're saying a government program will work the way it's supposed to work. Yep. Most do, despite the Ayn Rand types. The Apollo program, the US highway system, and air traffic control come to mind. For all their verbage, government has no intention of doing something, anything, that benefits YO...

I cannot imagine how industry cannot be kept running when at times the available RE supply is less than 5% of the demand. I fixed it for you so it's a lot more accurate. I agree, you cannot imagine it. People could not imagine computers, 747's, reusable boosters and solar power at one point. Fortun...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

AEMO sees renewables as both inevitable and the right thing to do. Even a do-nothing strategy will still see at least 50% of all generation come from wind, solar and storage. Yep. Simple economics; it's the cheapest by a long shot, and that goes a long way towards incentivizing people to deal with ...

Problems were that the seatpost clamp had rubber bushings and did not have secure enough hold on the seatpost to prevent rotation side to side.
That's the problem with every seatpost rack I have tried. You need a positive detent to keep it from rotating.

:bigthumb: i looked at a cheap Aircoupe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiK5aC-5ulA Ercoupes are cool, but they tried to make them "foolproof" by limiting upward elevator authority. Makes them much harder to stall - but also hard to land well on short runways. You have to keep extra speed on to kee...

Re: Dual 1000w hub motors

My hub motors shake, rattle when i hit full throttle....and my battery was @ 30 perc. If you are hitting LVD and you have a sorta cruddy controller, that could happen. The droop could make the LVD cut in, which causes the voltage to rise, which causes the LVD to disengage and the thing to go to ful...

There are tons of propaganda on how cheap renewable energy is but the RE lovers don't want to look at the real-world data or even use basic horse sense. Yep. And there's tons of propaganda on "clean coal" and the like paid for by the people whose livelihoods depend on people using coal. But right w...

I know you cannot find any quote where i have said that.
Nor did I claim that. I was merely extrapolating your next attempt to claim that EV's are useless, only for rich people, too impractical, not available in the right colors - or a combination of all of those things.

I eagerly await it.

Living off grid, obviously the farther away you are from your work and shopping, the more expensive your annual transportation cost will be.
But HH wants to live 300 miles from the nearest store/city, and therefore EV's are useless!

How big does a roof need to be for you to fit a 10kW system? Modern panels are 18-20% efficient. Each square foot of roof gets about 100 watts of insolation. So with 18% panels, a 550 sq ft roof would be sufficient. With wastage and fire code issues that means ~800 sq ft. Now let's use actual panel...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

The only problem with those fairy tales is, that people use them to promote burning coal and oil. (which is what you do if you are against more solar and wind and tell people to wait for those "magic nukes") I am sure some people do that. Personally I think the best possible power mix for the near ...

Assuming you have a life/work situation that allows you to leave your $100+k car parked at home for 2 days ? Mine isn't a $100K car. And there is solar both at work and at home. So no, it would not require me to stay home for 2 days to charge via solar. But, Few people have a 10+kW solar system ..(...
