Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

And we confirm you that the strips between cells are pure nickel in our batteries now. And if apply for 48V17.5Ah battery with 3500mA cells, we still need to use the Dorado Plus case for our AM1000. because there is not enough space to fit the 35A currect BMS inside of the flat Dorado case. Best Re...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

i made the battery teardown of my original 48 volts 13s6p battery (LG MJ1 cells). i am disappointed about the original built. several strips had a little rust: rust.JPG this means this strip is not pure nickel but nickel plated steel. nickel plated steel is a horrible conductor and for that reason ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

note that the ca has one limitation that for me is severe: it cannot respond to any torque sensor readings until the cranks are moving at 50rpm or more Yeah it seemed to me that this latest CA can act as a primary display (with temperature power roll-off & a lot of other customizability), if I went...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Maybe the 52v case has been redesigned to be taller instead of wider??? But if you look closely in the unboxing video just a few posts ago you can see the extra width of the battery extending outboard of the frame on the left side. If my understanding is correct, I think Grace is saying all the bat...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Next Question TL;DR: Which display to get? Eggrider, Cycle Analyst, or Bafang C240, 500c, or SW102? I don't like the large vertical display that ships with the AM1000 (which seems likely to be damaged if I endo the bike...which I freely admit has happened more than once before), so I'm looking at ot...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Personally I prefer the 17.5AH battery as the bike is already heavy and the range on the 17.5 is already plenty - also the 21 will protrude - I even removed the handle from mine as it was irritating my knee as it also protrudes). I read this whole thread, and remember someone else also commenting t...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

including converting from hardtail to full-sus and shorter cranks (152mm). Both of these changes contributed to virtually eliminating crank strikes and I am now convinced that this was the root cause for the clutch failures. The stock Bafang cranks on the G510 are 175mm and include almost 20mm of e...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

tl;dr: Alfine 8 IGH- will it last with Ultra? Think I've decided to stick with the AM1000. Ordered it right at the end of the US group buy a week or so ago, but I've been researching upgrades since. One upgrade I've asked Frey about (no response yet other than to say she'll get back to me soon) is w...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

@Deafcat and @cscscs: did you two ever get any farther with engineering a replacement to this weak link in the Ultra? Do you still feel it's necessary? Should I order a spare part with the bike and if so can you point to which part in a photo so I can ask Frey for the replacement? Thanks for your in...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

i have an additional cable for my GPS tracker directly connected to the battery cable and a self made connection from the controller cable (5V+/ground/motor off) to the rear brake pressure sensor and my gearsensor incl. Higo plug. the gps tracker itself is mounted at the inner plastic motor cover. ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Attached a video of the 2020 Frey EX bike. It's a fantastic bike to ride. Hi @Hardcore - After viewing a couple videos, I'd say we have similar riding preferences in that I tend to ride singletrack pretty fast and love a little air but generally don't do huge drops (don't mean to imply you don't- j...
