Re: What would happen in this scenario?

If you cut one of the shunt resistors, you will half the controller current (assuming they are both the same) Only cutting one end of them is enough. No need to completely remove them. You need to check the controller mosfets maximum breakdown voltage (VDS max.) If your voltage is 2 high, they can g...

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

Some controllers have a 36V output for a headlight / backlight. It's usually a small additional pcb in the controller that has the switching fet for that output. Some controllers have an auto sensing of the hall sensor wires. In such case you usually have to disconnect a link for the auto detect (le...

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

If you use the stprog program, can you read the program memory from the microcontroller? There also is a feature that the controller isn't starting up if one of the brake inputs is activated. (It's starting up but not leaving it's initialising cycle.) Be very carefull. If you activate both the upper...

Re: Bionx bike with another Battery

The board in the battery isn't just a BMS. It communicates with the display and the controller in the motor. I have some bionx stuff from a trek bike and the battery seems to be 11S 4P. I have no idea if the BMS board would come back to life when the correct voltage is applied again. If you don't ha...

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

That pomp design is based upon a rubber tube that is pushed flat at 2 positions that move with the rotating motor. The product that will be pumped is desinfection hand gel, so it's not as liquid as water. Basically, the motor pushes the gel trough the tube. The motor has a gear box that reduces the ...

Doesn't sensorless need minimal rotation at startup to figure out the rotor position?
Can it start running from a standstill without issues?

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

Again, thanks for the answers. There is already a connector for the hall sensors as well. The small pcb connects to some io lines on the main microcontroller that are not connected according to the S06S schematics, PD2 PD3 and PD4. The controller indeed can work on brushless motors as well. As I wan...

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

As I needed a controller in a hurry, I bought the KT36ZWSRMT-XW01DL 36V 11A one. As expected from the serial number, the phase current measuring chip is not present on the board. On the S06S, that chip is marked as ACS711. There are 3 different types of that chip for different currents. As the outpu...

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

How would you connect the programmer if you are making changes to the firmware? There are 2 things unclear. 1. The usb programming stick 5V is connected to the controller 5V. I assume this powers the microcontroller with the pc usb 5V so that the controller can be programmed without the need to powe...

Re: KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW

Just look for the datasheet of the microcontroller. It should give you a clue which pins are port C. Next, look in the code what GPIO_PIN_4 is defined as. It gives you a clue which bit of port C is used for the lights. On some schematics I found PC4 and PC7 go directly to a header. Those 2 are good ...

Looking for Kuteng KT36 controller

I am located in Belgium and are searching for a Kuteng KT36 (SVP?) or equivalent. It's not for a bike but for a 36V 3 phase brushless pump motor that will be used to fill bottles with desinfection hand gel. The pump controller is defective, and the Kuteng with osf seems like a perfect way to get the...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

If I remember reading correctly, the overrun fix is only in the motor.c file.

Would it be possible to post that one for those unpatient (like me)

I understand it needs some testing before it can go mainstream. Just (very) curious what has changed.

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

You should be able to measure a voltage on the brake input when the brake isn't engaged. It can be either close to 5V or close to 3V3. It becomes zero if the input is connected to gnd. (Obviously you can't use it to power your gear switch sensor) So you basically only have the 5V supply voltage miss...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

The temperature sensor and the throttle both use the same analog input on the microcontroller. So you either has firmware with throttle enabled that measures the voltage on that input and gives motor assistance relative to that voltage, or you have firmware that measures the voltage on that input an...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

The brake input is designed for that purpose. The fact it works on the speed sensor input is nice but likely not something programmers will test every time they bring out a new version. The time the motor interrupts it's assistance is likely the time needed for one wheel rotation. Upon the the next ...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

Assume the speed signal is a voltage that is pulled to gnd every time the magnet passes the sensor. The fastest way to measure speed would be to measure the time between 2 of those pulses. If there is no filtering and you inject an extra pulse with the gear sensor, it will increase the speed readout...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive and 850C and SW102 displays only -- Flexible OpenSource firmware (Casainho code only)

The motor is not exactly very well thermally connected to the housing. So saying it doesn't warm due to the fact it doesn't feel warm seems a bit short trough the corner. Next there is the environmental temperature. The motor might overheat faster in summer when it's 30 deg C compared to 6 deg C in ...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

To get power from the motor, you need to feed it current. The osf firmware might be driving the motor a bit more efficient due to it using simplified foc, but the biggest boost likely comes from the fact that the motor current is less restricted and the software allows the motor to produce peaks of ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive and 850C and SW102 displays only -- Flexible OpenSource firmware (Casainho code only)

Maybe they saw the light and have implemented simplified foc in their firmware as well. With a bit of luck, they still use the same microcontroller. Or it could be that the old controller still works with the new motor. If it's mechanical more robust, that's a bonus. For the rest, we can only wait a...

Re: Fast Charging - What is the secret?

The "ostrichoo julius" seems to use super capacitors as battery. Besides the fact they can charge in 30 minutes, they also seem to be less sensitive to temperature fluctuations. They also lower the possibility to set your house on fire and can be recharged 2000+ times. Their disadvantages at the mom...
