Re: 2020 Sea Otter Classic Postponed Due to Alcoholic Beverage Virus!

The cerveza virus has taken down yet another victim, the BNP Paribas tennis tournament, due to draw 450,000 spectators. Organizers are attempting to "reschedule" the event for later in the year:

I'm wondering if it might be a blessing in disguise. When it's rescheduled, perhaps only the truly hardcore and those passionate about the sport will bother to attend. Making it a funner event. Who knows if it'll even be rescheduled?

2020 Sea Otter Classic Postponed Due to Alcoholic Beverage Virus!

Bummer. I was looking forward to demoing a ton of e-bikes next month. Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer:

Interesting

Whoa. Seriously? That means Frey can't bring bikes, at least not to demo. Do you have a link? BTW, there are many sea otter classics now.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

In defense of more mainstream, or established bicycle companies, there are certain design advantages which for whatever reason, companies like frey have been slow to adopt. This includes steeper seat angles. Full suspension bikes sag into their travel, so a steeper seat angle is imperative compared ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I'm a little confused between the EX and AM1000 now. They are both dual suspension bikes and similar prices, has anyone from Frey outlined what is different / improved on the EX apart from the dual battery system? The two bikes seem very similar in terms of feature set. There are small differences ...

Re: Enduro/All Mountain E-MTB Head Tube Angle

Do you have final say in all frame angles and measurements? Head angles are getting slacker every year. Seat angles are getting steeper every year. For a while there was a trend towards short chainstays but now there is movement in the opposite direction towards longer chainstays and/or frame size s...

Re: "BadPowerBikes" LOL: Hate Site or Consumers Fighting Back?

HK: you are absolutely right--I too was astonished by the amount of backstabbing among e-bike sellers when I first started researching e-bikes. Biktrix was one of the worst, making an endless list of false claims about FLX. FLX contradicted every single point in the most polite way possible. I would...

"BadPowerBikes" LOL: Hate Site or Consumers Fighting Back?

A pretty thorough critique of radpowerbikes. Apparently lots of customers are receiving shoddy product and are injuring themselves ("rad tattoos") likely because of the combination of high torque and low rider skill. It's making me rethink my decision to buy a lower cost hub motor e-bike. Are we tha...

Re: X-Treme "Rocky Road" Fat E-Bike (Don't Laugh)

Here's an interview with one of x-treme's drop shippers. Clearly, he knows nothing about bicycles and cares not a lick about the industry. It's a convenient way for him to make money while living as an expat in Mexico. It looks like a nice product but everyone associated with it comes off as scammy,...

Here's an interview with the owner of x-treme bikes. He simply goes by "Greg." No last name. Legal troubles perhaps? He drop ships to a number of e-commerce sites he partners with. His own website? He mentions a couple in the video interview, and I believe they're operating under at least three webs...

I called customer service for x-treme and encountered a crazy old witch of a customer service rep. She couldn't have been any more hostile. I talked her off the bridge, but it took some doing. I then called a dealer for x-treme and the store owner told me a story of when he tried to track down a rep...

X-Treme "Rocky Road" Fat E-Bike (Don't Laugh)

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I'm interested in this bike. However, I have been looking for a decent bike with full suspension that could accommodate a rear rack, and this model seems to fit the bill. The rear suspension shock looks to be of wal-mart quality and the promotional vids are patri...

Most riders can make multiple frame sizes work for them.

It would be great if buyers report back on sizing.

I will definitely consider the M600 when the top speed limit is unlocked. Bosch is locking all settings on their motor as well. It's an unfortunate trend.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

Belt drives are utterly pointless. They are extremely expensive, very heavy, their gear ratios are extremely limited, and serviceability is very poor. Meanwhile the standard chain drivetrains are very cost effective, easily serviceable, very light, gear ratios are far wider than most riders will eve...

Re: Frey CC ordered!

The worst that can happen is that you lose $20 if the rack doesn't work out for you. You can also use a trailer or a large backpack for that matter or a beam rack.

I've carried 10+ kgs on the handlebars, it didn't tax the suspension in the slightest. You are overthinking this.
