Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

I have an EM3ev 36V 17Ah battery purchased last year. It was stored in a 50F basement for the winter. Satiator won't recognize it and insists I should plug in a battery. Multimeter reads 29V, an 8V drop since stored. Force charge doesn't work, I get the same message. An 8v drop is too much over the...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

MrBill - here is a thought ... get a resistive throttle and connect it to the aux analog input and set it to be the speed limiting control. Now your throttle, if wired backwards, will become the inverse max speed control only and slow you down at any time, although not at a light to strong rate as ...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

You have "Limit Speed Using Regen" set to Yes . That's the cause of the observed behavior. When you're not pedaling, your CA's speed limit is set to 0mph, and it's using regen to slow you down to that speed. Turn that setting off and you should be good to go. Well, yes, may be true. But, the ostens...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I'm looking to find a solution to a problem with my CA3 that I discovered yesterday while running my bike in e-bike "Class 1" mode. Class 1 e-bikes in California are limited to a speed under power of 20mph (32 kph), 750 watts (presumably "brake motor power" not input power), and throttle use disable...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Some people have asked if it is possible to use two satiators in parallel but I have not found a clear answer. I know that using two lab power supplies is a very bad idea, so I'm wondering. Does anyone have the answer? While I haven't tried using two Satiators to charge one battery, I have run a Sa...

Re: ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

Does anybody knows the settings to reverse the motor's rotation. In BacDoor under Peripheral Configuration -> Basic Motor (sensored or sensor-less) The last field in the right pane is "Motor features". Bit 0 swaps Phase A <--> C (which reverses rotation direction). Bit 0 is the right-most bit and c...

Re: ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

If some one can share me a working parameter file that would be really helpful too. Hi kmv: It would help the helpers to know what kind of motor you are trying to tune. Some of us have had trouble tuning motors that run power through the bicycle's chain and sprocket. I have included a working param...

BMS, 7s, Li-Ion (3.7v), >35A, common port, >60v MOSFETs

Five years ago I bought six 7s batteries from EM3EV made to order using Samsung INR-18650-29E cells, ca. 2014. These batteries have been running well for the last 5.5 years, and their capacities are around 90-95% what they were when new. All six of these batteries have operated normally and have bee...

Re: "Edge" DD hubmotor, 1500W, 35mm, Al core

Hi everyone, I just got one from LAEbikes. Awaiting for it to arrive. Can anyone tell me in the mean time if this has a speed sensor built in. I need this info to order my Cycle Analyst. Thanks everyone. If the motor you ordered has at least one working Hall sensor, then it has a "speed sensor" as ...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Hey Justin: I think it's great that you and your team have been improving the Phaserunner Software Suite. Some time ago I think I asked if the Suite could be used to program some of the other ASI controllers, such as the BAC2000 (non-bluetooth) as sold by Grin a few years ago. At the time you (or Ro...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

For a few years, I have charged my two LiFeP04 16S/12 Ah packs to 3.5 Volts per cell. These packs have internal BMS's with balancing. Thinking after all this time that maybe the BMS's wont initiate the balance mode unless they see a 3.6 Volts per cell termination, I charged each pack separately and...

Re: Annual Battery Capacity Test

Hi mighty82: I haven't tested IR under more controlled conditions, but I have observed the IR stat on my CA3 using various configurations. I find that figure varies enough with temperature and state of charge that it will swamp any change due to age. The only thing that seems certain to me is that I...

Re: 1500W (35mm) V2 DD Hub Motor Group Buy by Teslanv $200 + Shipping

As a side note, with this amount of power, you don't need as many gears, so I recommend a 6-speed megarange, and simply adjust the stops on your 7-speed derailleur. It's true that you don't need as many gears, but it's still nice to have a wide range. Most 6-speed freewheels are limited to 14-28. A...

Re: 1500W (35mm) V2 DD Hub Motor Group Buy by Teslanv $200 + Shipping

Will a 7 speed freewheel spun onto this keep the width at 135mm? You should be able to use a 7-speed freewheel on this motor without having to open up your drop-out much. An axle Spacer may be needed to get clearance for the smallest sprocket. I use a 7-speed freewheel with this motor in dropouts t...

In particular, could you confirm the following dimensions that I used last year for this motor in Grin's spoke length calculator? Flange diamet...

NOTICE: Any HIGH POWER DIY ebike activity, which is responsible, involves a SAFETY INTERLOCK. (low power activities... say under 1hp... are not as critical) This may be as simple as a mechanical switch inline with the controller throttle input along with a "pull down resistor". This is not mandated...

Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

Hi Folks:

I've got a partial syringe of Type A Statorade purchased in 2016 or earlier and a full syringe I purchased in March 2018 labeled as "Statorade". Can anyone tell me if these formulations are compatible and can be mixed together in the same motor?

Thanks.
