Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod

My apologies for not getting back to you. My bike was stolen from campus and I haven't been on here for a while. Too depressing. Hope the mod is going well for you. I didn't experience any problems with this mod. Full disclosure I live in Southern Ontario so it's very flat, but we get our fair share...

Re: Motortrend article with tons of info about Tesla’s Cybertruck

Now I'm seeing a trend on YT towards "acceptance", as if this roll-out was some sort of traumatic life event we are learning to cope with. I'm still in the "denial" stage. Aesthetics aside, I have a feeling insurance rates on the CT are going to be outrageous. Tesla's manufacturing process has been ...

Re: How to determine power (volts/amps) needed for top speed.

I'm currently an armchair enthusiast looking to learn more about the relationship between a motors power and the controller driving it. For example if I wanted to put a Nissan leaf motor in a small SUV like a ford escape, I can calculate the rpms needed after the read diff. to get the top speed I w...

Re: Veteran returning to market BBS02/03/HD what to buy?

There were a few growing pains with my BBSHD but once I replaced the gaskets I haven't had any problems since. And I'm running it a 40A. I've only got about 4000km on mine but they seem pretty bullet proof. If you're running 30A you'd probably want the more robust BBSHD, but the BBS02 seems to be a ...

Yeah, it's all marketing- normal buying public has no idea about it, and focuses on substance and style. Nothing special- every company does that. This truck is not geared towards the Good Ole' Boys and never was. It's geared towards suburbanite warriors- people who want to be different in some way...

^^^^^ +1..and the same goes for the idiot who made a big noise about “30x cold rolled” S steel. There is nothing unique about a 30 pass cold rolling process. Most car body steel sheet will have a similar number of “Cold ” rolling mill passes. (“ Cold”..is a relative term in a steel mill ! ) I haven...

I must be getting old, but I'm going to smack the next person that says "stainless steel alloy". It's redundant and it makes people sound like a stupid newb. I keep hearing people say it like Musk invented a new element on the periodic table and it's annoying AF.

Re: Motertrend article with tons of info about Tesla’s Cybertruck

I think there's two important points to remember; gas is a business write off for a lot of truck owners and while towing capacity is important we all know how it kills range on EV's. These go a long way when I ask myself Why? they would reveal this truck the way it is. I don't think this was ever in...

Any technical oddity in press releases if often a sign of bullshit and wapor ware. The press release itself is just a fraud and the intent is raising investment capital. It's not a press release it's an article on the paper published in Advanced Materials: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10...

Re: Motertrend article with tons of info about Tesla’s Cybertruck

I'm thinking maybe this is a marketing scheme. Tesla seems to have low production volumes at first. Maybe they took this into account and figured it would initially appeal to a smaller market anyways. If the specs are as good as they say that's what's going to draw current ICE truck owners over, not...

Re: Where do I get special spokes for my hub motor?

A half dozen reputable traditional bike shops where I am, no one has a spoke threader. Only a single ebike store has one. That's sad. I guess it's a sign of the times. With the garbage big box bikes it's easier and cheaper to buy a new wheel, and for the more expensive stuff you order it made. Is t...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

That isn't my point, my point is why is the base car de-tuned? It isn't. The plus model is tuned to match the $10K in performance parts. Again, it's not just with supercars. VW does this with a lot of their cars (base Golf vs GTI), Volvo did this with their old 2.4 I5, newer BMWs, and rumor has it ...

So you admit that the only difference is a tune? No, there's high performance parts on the plus that aren't on the base model. THAT'S WHY IT COSTS MORE MONEY. This is insane, you're talking super cars, limited production and 2% more hp. It's pure fantasy, this is not how the real world works. Don't...

Most reputable bicycle shops have a spoke threader. I think good ones run about $100. My guess would be they don't have the gauge of spoke and are too lazy and too stupid to source them.

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

No, it isn't. I have no idea why you continue to argue me about this specific point when it has very little to do with the main post. The engines of both the Base and Plus models are IDENTICAL save for software. I think I went over your head here. You say the base model is de-tuned, I say the plus ...
