Re: Changing switch brake levers to magnetic hydraulic sensors

Hi guys. Working my way through conversation kit and the search function. The levers that came with the kit have switch sensors and I want to change the to the magnet sensors. Is it a case of wiring in the new cable and both would work in the same way? Most likely, but you'd need to post details on...

When I first took it apart and saw them it did make me think how you have all this tech and a primitive stick
Not really much tech in the basic 50 year old design.

Re: I need help with my electric bike kit

If you revisit this thread:
  • Reconnect everything the same as it was before.
  • Take a picture of the throttle connector from the controller,
  • Take a picture of the new throttle and connector,
  • Post both pictures here.

Re: Building my first bike - A few questions

well, my first thought is: are you matching the stuff you're buying to your actual needs and wants? meaning...what exactly was it about the prebuilt bikes you didn't like? very specifically, make a complete list. if the new stuff doesn't correct all of those...then it's not the right stuff. ;) “To ...

Re: Building my first bike - A few questions

Hi ES :) I feel like I have found a decent combo of bike and conversion kit, but I am not sure if they really fit. Apart from the wheel size on the kit and the bike, what am I looking for? Any small things, or large for that matter, that might be easy for a beginner to miss? The 142mm hub spacing i...

Re: Very short range from battery, trying to diagnose

Look at the evidence again. I left the battery charging for 24 hrs. It must be fully balanced. The indicator on the side says it is well charged. My multimeter says it is 55v. That is exactly what I would expect from a fuctioning battery. However, the display says the battery is nearly flat. It cut...

Re: Will higher amp controller help?

I have a home built ebike with rear 1000W hubmotor kit. The controller is an older, 48v no name ebay purchase with no current specs. Previous;y I powered it with two 12Ah 6s quadcopter batteries in series, about 44v nominal. Recently, I built a 15Ah 52v battery using (42) 26650 cells in 14s 3p arra...

Re: Need advice

Typically our ebikes are powered by battery packs, not individual batteries. The typical pack consists of several 18650 cells, arranged in series to obtain the desired voltage (e.g. 13 cells in series, or 13S, would provide a nominal 48 volts). These series groups are then connected in parallel in t...

Yup, as long as I don't open it under load, no concerns about frying the contacts. If it ever fails, it's only $6 to replace.

Re: Battery Disconnect method.

I use a 40A AC single pole breaker as an on/off switch for my battery. Since it's AC, it won't actuate based on current, when used in a DC circuit, so I'm only using it because of the contact ratings. Still working fine after a thousand plus actuations. $6 Home Depot.

Re: Elegance 36 Throttle / Controller Help Please

The blue and yellow of the old throttle looks to be a plain switch, likely used to turn the controller on and off. The TAG/PAS switch from the new throttle should be able to provide this function, if it is also an on/off (rather than a momentary push button). The brown and white of the old throttle ...

I'd check the throttle cable connections first. If everything looks good, then open the throttle and look for bad connection. Alternatively, just replace the throttle.
