Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

The first industry-scale Power-to-Methane plant was realized by ETOGAS for Audi AG in Werlte, Germany. The plant with 6 MW electrical input power is using CO2 from a waste-biogas plant and intermittent renewable power to produce synthetic natural gas (SNG) which is directly fed into the local gas g...

Thank you for your feedback, however, again, this is not a DIY or hack-oriented product. Which is kind of hilarious, considering you've built a Swiss Army knife. Why would ANY OEM get a Swiss Army knife at a premium, when they need just a box cutter ? Don't get me wrong, it's your business and you'...

Regarding contactors, what effect does voltage have on arcing ? Some Chinese vendors only state coil voltage, but not the rating of the contacts.

Re: Grid tie inverters and HV battery

In the two pictures you posted, one shows an exposed +Vbatt terminal next to a nest of wires, and the other shows exposed, free hanging, electrical tape wrapped HVDC splices dangling in front of the rack. Doesn't get much worse than that. And I am sure we're not seeing the whole system. It's your h...

Re: Grid tie inverters and HV battery

Yikes. In your house? Under wooden shelves? I STRONGLY suggest you move that system to a shed outside. That way a dropped wrench will only burn down the shed, not your house. There is a number of reasons why moving the system elsewhere isn't feasible, at least at this time. But also everything is b...

Re: Grid tie inverters and HV battery

I saw great bargain of some large SMA inverter at very nice price however these are not split phase so you need two that i guess are connected in sync to operate together out of phase in serie. Correct. You need two of those, or you can also get an auto-transformer (autoformer). Most serious brands...

Re: Grid tie inverters and HV battery

My goal is to reduce the maximum possible the moment where the Enphase could send power back to the grid and instead choose the moment where i dump the excess power when the grid need it the most using a PLC. Or to sense the power my home need and to only dump the energy from the inverter when my h...

Re: true cost?

Let's be realistic: that's about 2-3 car buying cycles away for the people buying Teslas. Plus who's insurance is going to cover it when operating under the direction of an algorithm? I am not sure why your claim is realistic. There are many things that will go into making that a reality, but there...

Re: true cost?

A lot of people ask "When will it pay for itself?" which is a silly question - I have never seen a car reach into it's pocket and pull out it's wallet and buy itself from the showroom floor. Not yet, but that's one of the Tesla's promises when you add your vehicle to the pool of their autonomous ta...

If saving money is the goal, #1 rule is, only buy what you can afford, as in paying cash.

If there are other higher priorities, then forget about trying to "justify" it with abstract economic BS, just get what you want and enjoy the ride.

So whenever that next-gen-cells does arrive and the cells holds double the energy as of today, I could sell the Triumph and rely only on the Zero to fill all my motorcycle needs. Re: Short video of Tesla cyberquad - does anyone have more information?

I’d like more information about the specs. I’d love prices or availability. None of that is available, and likely won't be available for a year or so. Once they move closer to production of Cybertruck, we will know more about the quad. There is some possibility the quad never makes it to mass produ...

Re: Short video of Tesla cyberquad - does anyone have more information?

Unless Elon also pulls out next gen batteries I don't expect much from this quad in terms of range at least. Why not ? You can look at Zero Motorcycles for examples of what is possible without "next gen" batteries. Given aerodynamics kills range, and quads aren't intended to travel at highway speed...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

2) Right now the cheapest way to make it is by reforming natural gas/methane. And honestly, natural gas is a better fuel/storage medium than hydrogen. It's much safer, easier to handle and ship, and gives you more range. And it's easier to make. And if you really want to run a fuel cell, you can re...
