Re: My econo-e-bike

Nice job! I had considered using Mr. Tuffys, but thankfully haven't had a flat since riding roadsides to work last year. Those two flats were with regular tubes and tires. Now I mostly use puncture/thorn resistant tubes and tires with some sort of flat protection (Schwalbe Plus), but I've mostly bee...

Re: What E-Bike Rack do you use?

Wow, leave it to the Germans! It does suit a niche market though, as the ebikes can be heavy.

Re: 2019 16" moped/scooter tire pop-off: which is the most puncture proof?

I've had the Super Moto-X 20x2.40" tire on the front of my SWB recumbent for two years now, combined with a puncture/thorn resistant tube. It does get 180 lbs on it, and has had no flats, but only about 300 miles so far. The small crosshatching tread on the surface has worn off, but the grid of rain...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

I had to rebuild the rear wheel of my Lynx, as my limited options for the original spokes turned out to be too long. Some of their threads were bottomed out, causing the whole wheel to not be as tight as I wanted. There were 6 broken spokes, all fractured at the threads! The new ones were 5mm shorte...

Re: Hire E-Bike build thread

Well for what it's worth, the controller on my wife's bike has been mounted between the seat tube and rear wheel for over a year now. Just opened it up to do a shunt mod and LVC mod, and it's clean as new in there. Granted this bike doesn't see rain, and only a few puddles. https://lh3.googleusercon...

Re: PWD's Rocky Mountain Element - refresh

Let us know how you like it. I have the same tire in 20" form, also with an alex DM24 on the front of my recumbent bike. It's nice on the pavement, but most of the trails around me are sandy gravel, and I'm about to try a Smart Sam as a second wheel to swap to. I also have a wider wheel to try, sinc...

Re: Hire E-Bike build thread

I'd call it water resistant, with rubber on both sides. Holes for the wires through the rubber might be questionable.

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I was referring to the very basic one available on the Google Play store. It's next to useless unless the BMS is setup correctly prior. I do like the features of the proper app. I like how it can show the variance of individual cell voltages compared to the average. Does anyone know if it can show ...

What version of the app are you using? Android or iOS? I never saw a notification for this so assumed nobody had responded. Anyway, I also reached out to the Alibaba seller and managed to get it through them. For anyone else looking, attached is the download of the app. They also gave me this link:...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

Here's a 360 video clip of the Lynx and StefEbike. That's right, look at the bikes. Not me. :P It should load at 2880s if you have the hardware video acceleration for it. That's 5760x2880 distributed across the entire field of view, so it's kinda the same quality as watching a 1080p video. Yesterday...

Re: BikeE Build

On throttle or pedal assist, thanks. I should have said "under power" instead :) In that case, I second the second half of what Amberwolf said, and was going to suggest something with the hall sensor connections. I had an intermittent connection earlier this year that I repaired, but it sounded some...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

I forgot to mention that I put a cheap half-twist throttle on the Lynx since it has index / trigger shifters, and I love it! I basically never use the thumb throttle that I had on the left, which had to be too far away from the triggers to not interfere. I'd like to convert the other two bikes from ...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

Thankfully I tried to be conservative with the StefEbike Low Voltage Cutoff modification, because now it allows me to drain the battery right to it's 2.5 volt limit if I needed to, which I won't be doing very often. There's now the perfect amount of current limiting as the battery drains, assuming t...

Re: BikeE Build

Dishing the spokes would be tightening all of the spokes on the left side while loosening all of the spokes on the right side. The trick would be to keep the wheel round and true while doing it. I've built four wheels now, and use zip ties on the frame as my guides to see where the wheel rubs or not.

Re: BikeE Build

Nice progress! A lot of my questions will probably be things you've already considered. Could you just get a wider bottom bracket, such as one meant for a fat tire bike? I'm kinda surprised that a wide rear tire would hit the chain before hitting the frame. I can only think of dishing the spokes lef...
