Re: Frey FAT 1000 2.0 first impressions

+Front fork is way better than in Frey FAT1000 +Belt driven. No broken hubs or chain skipping with 11t rear cog. +Possibility to ride light with one battery or take both and have an insane range of 200km’s. ... Nice analysis! Another + I would add is the 3000W motor because of the chip as well. I r...

How is the Fat1000 different from the AM1000 besides the tire size?
Chainstay and seatstay width and length are larger to accomodate a bigger rear tire. Otherwise the mainframe is similar with AM1000.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I have my FAT1000 running 27.5 x 3.0 wheelset now.

Planning to upgrade to this:

27.5 is much better than 26 x 4-5 for summer usage in fatbikes. Everything ranging from 27.5 x 3.0 to 4.0.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi! Have you encountered issues with the gear shift sensor jamming the cable? For me this issue repeats itself once in three months. Solution is easy as though. When the cable jams in the sensor it lifts the cable housing away from the sensor. Just spray some silicone oil in there and the problem is...

Everything is closed but atleast you can enjoy the spring and nice weather.

I’ve never been happier owning my FAT1000. This is one of the last forms of sport you can enjoy at the moment which makes it even more nicer.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

In cold climate usage you will get more range without nickel strips. Steel-nickel strips will keep the battery warmer.

Setup for optimal range would be nickel strips and a battery pouch.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Thanks Tom! I'm debating on whether to get this in large or XL. I'm 1.87 cm (~6.2 ft). Anyone here around the same height that can give me an idea which size would fit best? Someone said the Frey bikes ran fairly large. I’m 197 cm and have XL. The frame is already bigger than with most mountain bik...

Nice yest it's what I've read as well that they don't know yet if it's to hard on the chains, gears and drivetrains. I was already planning on getting a gear sensor, I don't know why they don't put them directly on all their model for 1000 Watt mid drive it should always be the case! I don't know y...

Re: Frey FAT 1000 2.0 first impressions

Yes I know the Exess controller. It would be cheap to buy one for me since they produce them in Germany. The chain, sprockets, shifter and freewheel are already stressed out. When you use the full power of Exess use it only when you are already going fast. Drag-racing or hill climbing with high gea...

Re: Frey FAT 1000 2.0 first impressions

I ordered mine with 48V 21Ah battery. Yes it’s true when the battery gets empty that your speed is going to drop. Take the 52V if you want to go fast. You don’t have to maintain the rear shock. Once in 3 years is fine. Have you asked Frey how much shipping to Canada would cost and are the taxes inc...

Re: Frey FAT 1000 2.0 first impressions

I know that one. There is a lot of downsides with that ”e-moped” though. 1. A lot heavier (50kg’s). 2. Pedal assist is on/off and thus 3. De Facto you can’t pedal this thing. 4. Battery can’t be removed easily (never charge a cold battery!!!) 5. Shipped to Europe Frey is cheaper. I don’t know how a...

FlyingFinn, I saw you posted a picture of your bike on the top of a cold mountain. I'm in Canada where it gets pretty cold in the winter and would like to ride my bike all year round. How do you say it reacts to cold temperatures (breaks and suspensions)? And, how cold was it, here it often gets to...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi there, Has anyone attempted to install a Rohloff on a Frey AM1000 or CC? Thanks To my understanding installing a Rohloff to the AM1000-frame would require a severe amount of high precision modding of the frame. Given that the value of the frame alone isn’t that high, around $500, I don’t deem it...

Re: Frey FAT 1000 2.0 first impressions

FAT1000 converted to AM1000. I’ve been really happy for the conversion and the possibilities it brought to me. The two wheelsets can be swapped in 15 minutes. 3.0” wide tire is the best for dirt roads and asphalt. 4.8”s are housing studded tires ATM. You never know when it’s going to be icy and snow...

I think that couldn't possible to convert an AM 1000 into a fat 1000 You are right. 27.5x3 or 26x3.5'ish are the biggest AM1000 can accomodate. That's why I bought the FAT. Two wheelsets to swap according to conditions is the best option here. Now it's February but snowless ground! No issue... just...

Re: lithium battery performance vs tempreture?

I have a 78 cell 18650 pack and I’ve been riding in temps as low as -15C. Key is to never let the battery cool down. Take the battery from inside warmth and use it all the time. Don’t stop or otherwise you might get stranded. By using the battery all the time I get only a loss of power around 5% in ...

Thanks Flying Finn, Personally, the G510 is just to dang heavy for me. I did run across a frame though. Looks like Dengfu has one in a 26" was hoping for a 27.5 but still looking at it...
