Re: GMAC on a new Mountain Bike?

Regarding teh GMAC, keep in mind that it doestn' have a freewheel in it, so without power it may be very difficult to pedal, possibly much harder than a DD hubmotor due to the planetary gearing No, it's not. I have a Krampus Surly with a GMAC and use it sometimes without battery, it's easy to pedal...

Re: Small motor 5-10 kW

Thank you for the advices :) The QS3000 looks good. for my use. 3000W nominal is perhaps a bit low. Has it a big brother ? The PMS80 is really nice, but I don't want to put 1800€ in the motor itself. What do you think of this motor ? With a fan on the shaft to keep it cool. Realistic, or inappropria...

Small motor 5-10 kW

Hi,
I'm thinking about building an electric kit for my motorbike.
I'm looking for a small motor, able to work at 5-6 kW continuous (max 10 kW), and with a rotating speed 1000-5000 rpm under 72V.
Do you have advices ?
Thanks !

My CA3 doesn't seem to repeat the motor temperature from the Phaserunner. The Temp reads -39C, LoL.
Does yours?
No but I don’t have the temperature cable.
Anyways given my use (high speed and flat terrain), the motor is not the limitation. I’ve never found it to be even a bit warm after use.

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?

Quick feedback after 1 month 1/2 and 5-600 kms with my GMAC 8T (on 29" wheel) + Phaserunner + 14S6P battery + PAS : this setup is wonderful ! I'm able to drive at 50 kph on flat, with a power around 1200–1300W. The Phaserunner is amazing, so much power in such a small device ! But it's not made for ...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?

Despite my 52V battery and 29 inches wheels, I’ve chosen the 8T following simulations with the Grin tool. My main use is flat terrrain at 45 kph, 28/30 mph. For this 10T would have worked at 50V and higher, but not below. And the climbing capacity doesn’t change. The difference is the motor current ...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?

Hi, The G310 is very (very very) quiet. More than the BBS. But you won’t be able to maintain durably 40kph with this motor, except if you have a tuck position, the road is flat and there is no upwind. More than the speed, keep in mind that the G310 is perfect up to 600W (battery power) continously, ...

Re: Fast Ebike for a tough commute

for 40km'h for comfort pedalling with PAS you need at least 12x53t transmission ratio. and 11x58T for 50km.h All depends on your wheels. My Surly Krampus has 29x2.5" tires, with 38x11 transmission I pedal comfortably (95 rpm) @ 45 kph. I can see why regen braking can be unpopular. I am currently wa...

Yes you're right, my ebrakes are 0/1. Perhaps, with the TripWire and the Phaserunner, I will be able to set variable e-breaking.
But for now, this setting is good to me. I will confirm next week, with 50 km of daily commuting to work, if this new GMAC is up to the job. I think it will :D

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?

Installation done :) First impressions : - Powerful ! Compared to the G310 is was a foregone conclusion. I have set it up at 1500W max, I don't need more. PAS only, no throttle. - The moteur is smooth with my Cycle Analyst settings (I have a slow ramp-up), the only downside is the light noise. The G...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

This morning, after 1h at 750W continuous (@ 40 kph, with external temp around 25 °C), 100m before arriving to destination my G310 encountered a brutal power drop, with a bit of noise. After a few minutes I realized that the motor was very hot, it had clearly overheated. Indeed, using it at 750W fo...

Why do you want a 45 mph cruising speed to ride... 3 miles ?
30 mph will be enough, your bike will be lighter, your battery also, and your ride will be only 2 minutes longer ;)

I have this 4A charger for my 52V batteries, it works well. You can choose among plenty of different plugs, and even ask for custom voltage. When I need to charge fast my 14s6p battery, I use 2 chargers in //. Yzpower builts also 6-8A charger, heavier of course. https://m.fr.aliexpress.com/item/3278...

Re: Comfortable long range frame? EEB?

I have a Surly Krampus steel frame, with 2.5" tires, adequate tires pressure (ie. low pressure), good saddle (Brooks B17 or C17) and good handlebar it's confortable. I'm using it up to 30 mph. I've done up to 200kms in one day with it. One downside of the Krampus : it's limited to 38T front gear (wi...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?

Interesting feedback sleepy_tired :) My short-list is now Grin All Axle (front) vs GMAC (rear). My main use will be around 700-900 watts, at high speed, on pavement. Intense use : 50 kms per day, 3 to 4 days per week. I don't have any trouble with chain alignement on my Surly with the G310, it shoul...

GMAC/MAC : maintenance and noise ?

Hi, I'm ready to buy a GMAC, but I have not been able to find a clear view on one possibe downside of this motor : is it noisy ? I would like a motor that I don't hear above 15-20 kph. Second question : what is the duration of the planetary gears ? Do they need to be greased often ? My use will be 5...

Re: 1 kW motor : MXUS, 9C RH212, G360, GMAC, or front Grin All Axle ?

Still hunting for my next motor. I'm fond of the simplicity and reliability of the DDs, as well as their ability to run without overheating on long hills with statorade, but... they're heavy ! In addition, I have realized that my dropouts are 12*142, I have adapters for the G310, the GMAC (round 10m...

Re: 1 kW motor : MXUS, 9C RH212, G360 or GMAC ?

Hi, Still not fixed on RH212 vs GMAC. 2.5 kg less and much smaller plays in favor of the GMAC, while the maintenance-free and statorade is on the RH212's side. The difference of budget is not that high, around 140 USD more for the GMAC if I pick up the Phaserunner option for both motors (given the f...

Re: Tiny 250 W hub motors

Tiny motor 250W --> you should have a look on the G310 Bafang (123mm diameter), I have it, it's small, light (around 2.5 kg) and still powerfull : despite its 250W rating, you can use it on flat lands at 5-600W without overheating, and around 3-400W on hilly areas. If you don't need more than that p...

Thank you everybody for your advices. Just cancelled today my order of the G360 on Alibaba/Gomax, a vendor that doesn't reply more than once every 2 weeks doesn't make me feel confident... In addition, Justin told me he wasn't impressed about the G360 after having tested it. I have been playing with...
