Re: Looking for a BMS with a coulomn counter and maybe a display

the chargery bms8/bms16 they have a lcd screen and coulombcounter. The base model comes with a 100 amp shunt. You can find the chargery bms16 with a 300 amp shunt for $115 on ebay. You have to supply your own contactors/relays. The chargery can handle as much current as your contactor/relay can hand...

make sure the lithium are high discharged type batteries, if they are low discharge they will get real hot. Powertool lithium batteries are the best for RC, they can handle high amp motors. what brand/type are your 2800 mah?

Re: Use a Lifepo4 chargers for Li-ion cells?

Both chemistries are charged by cc/cv, so it should work especially since you can adjust the voltage. That's how i charge all my lifepo4 and li-ion with a cc/cv charger and they get an excellent charge. lifepo4 16s(x 3.65) would be 58.4 max charge, li-ion 14s(x 4.2) would be 58.8 max charge, even wi...

Re: Lifepo4 26650 capacity tester

i tested 200 of the a123 26650 with 2 of my opus. i had to buy 26650 individual holders 8 of them and then wire them to the opus. You have to open up the opus to flip a switch to the lifepo4 setting. Its alot of extra work to get everything setup, but the opus worked great. it didn't take long to pr...

Re: BMS for GBS LFMP 40ah 4-Pack Lithium Setup

chargery is a good bms all around. I use it on my 220 ah 4s lifepo4. The chargery bms8 cost around 100 dollars, it uses contactors/relays (not included) to stop the charge/discharge so it can handle as many amps as your contactor can handle. I use a 4 dollar 30a automotive relay to stop the charge, ...

Re: Would it be possible to connect 2 Battery packs to 1 BMS?

Yes you can do it, its how I have my 220ah lifepo4 connected. Its basically 4 x 4s10p battery packs connected together in parallel and everything hooked up to 1x 30a 4s bms. As long as you connect all the balance connectors together the pack will equalize. I had it connected that way almost 3 years ...

Re: Can't get batteries to link

if you got a multimeter do a continuity test on the wire, thats the quickest way to check if the wire is bad. Also wiggle the wire back and forth to make sure its not broken inside (intermittent) while doing the test.
If its broken, its easy to splice over the broken section.

same thing happen to me, the A123 cells packs a punch, I only lost one. Thats why I always tell everyone that lifepo4 is not any safer then 18650 li-ion, they both will catch on fire extremely well if mistreated. It goes off like a blowtorch and it keeps reflashing until all the internal pressure is...

Re: Battery BMS

If all your doing is paralleling both packs, get a y-connectors and connect both packs power and balancing connectors together and then connect everything to bms. When you do this the pack will equalize and the bms will see one large battery. Just make sure both packs are the same voltage when you c...

Re: Requesting a BMS recommendation after fire: 8S LiPo

One would only work during charging if the 3x packs were connected in parallel. If you plan on keeping your 3 packs in series during charging/discharging, what you actually need is a 24s bms, that would actually work better and also prevent one bms from activating before the others. You can find som...

I would look at the chargery bms8(cost about 95 dollars), its what I use on my 4s solar system, I trust it more then any of the cheap bms. It uses contactors/relays to stop the charge/discharge, you would need 2 contactors one for charging and one for discharging. I use a small 4 dollar 30 amp autom...

"but those flexible 8ga wires and pens sure do warm up" What kind of wire are you using, is it copper clad or pure copper? I recommend you get 6 gauge pure copper welding cables, its what I use. When I was using 8 gauge copper clad the probe cable were getting too hot to hold after a few welds. When...

Re: Bad BMS or bad cells or both?

some bms will stop at 4.20 (+ or -) 5 percent. But I had some that let the cell go to 4.30. Thats why I don't trust any bms. Most bms start balancing at 4.15 volts, but they only balance at 60ma, so if you are charging at high amps, it won't balance too well. When you stop the charge did the voltage...

I think you might have some weak cells in your pack. If you didn't capacity check the cells before putting them together, some weak cells might have got into the pack. Thats what happened to me and my 220ah pack. Since they were 5.5 mah cells and 32650 (wouldn't fit in my opus) I just check for volt...

chargery bms16 can handle the 13s. It uses contactors so it can handle however many amps you need without overheating. I been using the chargery bms8 for the past year 24/7 and its proven very reliable. You can find it for 109 on ebay, you have to supply your own contactors.

Re: 48v lifepo4 battery only charging upto 50v

One thing that might be happening is one of the cells is climbing higher in voltage near the end triggering the bms to shutdown. You would only notice this if you were watching the cell voltages in real time while charging. I always had balancing problems with some lifepo4 packs I built, and I encou...

chargery does balance cells, it balances at 1.2 amps per cell, comparable to a good balance charger. You can even customized at what voltage you want it to balance. Since I have active balancers on my battery pack, I disable the balance feature on the chargery. It also has two temp sensors, a loud a...

Re: 12s, 14s or 16s BMS high current application

The shunt is used to count amps in/out of battery. It can also be used to pull the relay if the current/amp use is too high in/out and that setting can be set to "0" so it doesn't do anything either way, except count amps. I unplugged my shunt sensor wire from the control box while battery being cha...

this is something you can use to charge your 3 packs at same time. As long as they are the same type 4s it will work and save you time. You only need one charger to charge all 3 packs.

I would go with the 4s2p battery pack 30ah pack. For the most accurate pack mah you would have to capacity test every cell and then use repackr to tell you where to put each cell. Since with 15ah cells it would take along time to test each cell, as long you have them pretty closed on the mah, just p...
