Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

I've designed a 3700 Nm , 36cm diameter and 30 kg weight motor in my computer but who knows if a real prototype would work, I always read that FEM simulations reach 95% accuracy but it's all circumstantial. Albeit IMO a diy motor is for fun and you shouldn't bother with high efficiency or power dens...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

No. more power = more amps or more volts  more turns = same ohmic losses given same fill factor (roughly, there are some added losses on low turn motors) You should read this: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=102934#p1505648 more turns = more length = more ohmic losses

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

But I know for a fact that cooler copper is more efficient, and is visible if you put power to a coil and watch the flux drop Huh? Resistance goes up with temperature but is flux of a coil affected? In what application? This can only happen if the coil has a ferrous core , it can't happen on corele...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

There are big companies that use one sided axial motors like YASA and others but again if you don't care about power density go with sandwich types. These are easier to get them working since there are no hot spots in the B fields.

Re: 300hp single seat off road buggy project

They use a battery that can deliver 400 kW of power from 100kWh of capacity ..iE its 4+C capable. You can buy 4C batteries can't you? lithium ion is not a secret technology the problem is that chinese factories use low cost materials i.e. thin graphite foil, badly pyrolyzed lifepo4, cheap electroly...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

IMO axial setups are better off using only one side and not a sandwich type motor, you can find research that suggests this notion, it's because the fringe field where the magnetic flux is concentrated is moved to the outside when using two sets of magnets or coils so you get less torque but the ups...

Just using emetor’s motoranalysis these days and it’s free.
Will try this, I've used maxwell and comsol before.

Is it my guess or you can't even make an axial flux induction motor in this? It only has presets for cage motors and it feeds the 2D geometry to the matlab solver.

How much did motorsolve cost? I don't get what you're saying about the winding, if the program doesn't have the winding as a prefix you may have to design it from scratch.

Voltage/Current shaping controllers

Hey guys I am searching for information about voltage shaping controllers, I've read research regarding signal shaping for torque ripple reduction but what I'm trying to do is keep the current input to the coils a true sine wave while adjusting the voltage input, I've run FEM simulations for a proto...

The secret is the graphene. They say it is going to change the future. I am very happy with my new 10AH graphene cells from WESTART factory, I can charge them in mimutes with 30A without any problems. in the future they are going to be much more powerful when the companies will be able to take the ...

Re: Lithium Batteries Shipping Rules Discussions

Well from what I can tell as long as you don't send the batteries as batteries but send them as a package with something else , i.e. a battery charger that has all the batteries attached to it, then you can send it as a battery charger and not as a battery, that's how companies bypass the dangerous ...

Yes many lithium batteries are build this way but it depends on the active material.

I wouldn't buy lithium batteries with aluminum sheets , lithium complexes with aluminum forming an alloy some batteries use the alloying method as a storage mechanism but these batteries alloy irreversibly I suppose so when the active layer gets swollen with time the lithium will get trapped in the ...

2D FEMM software is not accurate use a 3D solution look here http://www.cvel.clemson.edu/pdf/ACES09-736.pdf ofcourse you could use a wrong solution I've seen some motor designs in thesises that don't work.

Re: PM Motor theory - formulae etc.

It's when a motor doesn't have a linear torque curve, it goes up and down in motors and if a small motor has a lot torque ripple you will feel vibation from the motor.

Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

I wrote a detailed post but my laptop chose now to post it and I'm bored or writing it again. Short story supercapacitors need 1000kg to store same same energy as 100kg ion batteries, RMS battery nothing new needs marihuana or sea weed , vacuum furnace, stores electrolyte ions in carbon.
