might be a dumb question but where both of the separate batteries the same voltage before you parallel charged them?

Re: Honda z50j, first EV build

I used to have a gorilla on 8" wheels myself a while ago and rode fine even at 75 mph(with a 140cc), if your battery pack is only capable of around 12kw then even the smaller qs 121 70h 2000w motor would be very well suited as the votol control that comes with the motor tops at around 12kw 20s/150A

Re: Honda z50j, first EV build

Would be a great build and there should be plenty of room for a batteries, that said the qs 138 will seem crazy powerful on such a small 8" wheeled bike haha

Thought that so yes i ticked high gear but made no diffrence.
Do you have a 3 way switch for the low/mid/high settings? or a separate switch for the sport mode wired up?

Re: The control dilemma

I have never seen a front brake on the left handlebar on any bike, only ever on the right, and probably a good thing as ideally you need to let off the throttle in order to start grabbing the front lever. an e motorbike can lose the rear brake foot pedal and and replace with a lever on the left hand...

not exactly high quality but cheap and mine has working great so far! I run this with my normal robust motorbike cable operated throttle

When you guys have a cut out do you also have to come to a stop before and then pull away again to make the motor turn?

I have a monkey bike with 8" rims which rides fine even geared up to 75mph, but hitting a pot hole with smaller wheels can be brutal

Re: Why are two speed transmissions not more prevalent?

I'm also very curious about the use of a gearbox but in my mind it makes more sense to just use a larger motor if more top speed is required, that way it is simpler/less to go wrong, less losses from the gearbox and potentially less weight.

but would love to hear pros and cons to both set ups

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Why is phase shift at 45? It’s 60 for me with the qs motor and i think that’s the correct value. A large FW is the same as phase shift add on, you will get closer to 60 due to this. If angle is not correct then this will affect all your tests Not sure if it makes a difference with the 2000w motor a...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Hey Zeronest, thanks for sharing. I wonder if you have the same sw version (despite the fact it's em100). Regarding the decel lag you're describing, try to set both rate of rise and rate of decline to 255 (page1). There's a noticeable difference in motor response, but still not what we're after. Mi...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

I am using votol em100 with qs 200w motor in small motocross bike and am also having some power cut outs, often when I am applying a lot of throttle but the wheel cannot spin ( if the wheel can spin It doesn't seem to cut ) I lowered the undervoltage value and it seems to have helped but I have stil...

I'm looking at the isdt q8, it seems it'll serve me well. Any reason you put the psu's in series?
The charger will charge with 12v input but it will only supply 15A of charge current, if you want the full 30A output it needs at minimum 24v input

I'm using an isdt t8 1000w 30a 8s charger being powered by 2x hp dps 1200fb 1200w psu in series for 24v, cost approx £120 and charges my 18s 20ah lipo pack from flat in about 2 hours or less, i split the pack and charge 3x 6s cells in parallel. Re: Motor for fast e-bike

The QS 3000w mid motor kit is really powerful. If you want to go 50-60 km/h then it’s too large, also to fit it on a bike won’t be easy. Motor alone weighs 10kg and fits on a motorbike The QS 1000w or 2000w mid motor kit will be better for the job and would be what i would choose before the other t...

I had the bbshd on a voodoo bike previous to this but the frame snapped at the top tube. That's coming along great!, you definitely need some footpegs!

I used to use an old large innertube cut open for rubber to use as a rear mud guard to protect the shock

Had a couple more test rides on this bike now, upped the controller amps to 150 and then realised how completely absurd this motor is for this tiny bike! now dropped it back to 100A and tempted to go further but its so much fun! @larsb Which manual are you reading from? I've been using the 2000w motor with em100 controller a little bit now but cannot seem to make the throttle response sharper in controller settings, is this just the nature of a low kv motor without reduction drive? I have switched off soft start which helpe...

Nice build! :thumb: Maybe get a 12" rear and a 14" front wheel combo in that bike if it would fit? Thanks bud!
