Re: Kelly Controller setting at low battery

Yes, you need to set your min voltage setting higher on the controller.

Re: Motor noise assitance

An update. I did not swap any of the hall wires when I did the phase wire testing. Fany has indicated I should do this as well.

When my mental health allows, I will try this.

Too high a current setting.....
IMO, a quality controller would protect itself from too high a current regardless of the settings.

major
I agree completely. If I set 100% it should allow the maximum rated current of the controller...... not blow up at 65%

Motor noise assitance

Hi all I have a Kelly KHB on the shelf. I had some time today, so I swapped out the Kls96601-8080i for the KHB. However, I couldn't get it to run correctly. I tried every combination of phase wires but this was the best I could get: https://youtu.be/MKL0c_9dNIM The motor was very grimbly and loud. (...

Re: Sevcon Gen 4 Size 6 questions

Of course. I run a B2B company and we do not work with businesses below a certain size. I do not expect them to make a product then walk me through how to use, implement and configure it, step by step. Its more about having access to official documentations and a large comprehensive knowledgeable. ...

Re: Sevcon Gen 4 Size 6 questions

Thank you very much. That is a bit of a shame. You would think they make documentation available to anybody who buys a "dev unit " to potentially use en mass in a finished product. As I have said in the other thread, I think the only way I would entertain this controller, is if I had the services of...

Re: 50KW controller with field weakening

Unfortunately I have no experience with Sevcon and haven't redeemed the software to see how it is exactly, only went with Sevcon due to seeing so many successful motorcycle builds with them and speaking with their owners they were willing to share their dcf files to atleast have something to start ...

Re: 50KW controller with field weakening

If you're willing to DIY, and don't mind the size of the powerstage, you could use an EV controller's powerstage and the Lebowski brain board. It's been done by several people for various projects, and works fine, and is relatively easy to setup compared to something like a Sevcon. (and doesn't req...

Sevcon Gen 4 Size 6 questions

Hi all Looking for this for my fazer project (116v, 400+amps) I have done some reading around, and think that if I can get assistance from somebody for configuration (on the bits I get stuck on), I can make it work. I am sure the answer is yes, but can this controller: Run My Enertrac MHM602 BLDC hu...

Re: 50KW controller with field weakening

Though it's true the Sevcon isn't easy to program it does meet all your other requests. It supports up to 28S though 116V which is why Zero charges their batteries to 4.15V a cell. At 28S you could get the 50kW you want with a Gen 4 Size 6. Your other choice would be trying to find a Mobipus 96400 ...

Re: Update on my Fazer 600 conversion

Yes exactly that.

You may find that the controller you are using has a maximum voltage that is much higher than the 72v nominal.

You could always just not wire into one of the 4s modules but you would be carrying around a battery that you are not using.

Re: 50KW controller with field weakening

Thanks Tony, I will ping them a message and see if they can do something out of the ordinary.

The KHB controller will require tank modifications, which I am reluctant to do if it doesn't give me more top speed :)

Any thoughts on the controller you are going to use for the 28S project? I am currently stuck looking for a controller that can support the power, ideally with field weakening.

Re: Yamaha FZR-8000 Genesis

Lots of good progress.
I wouldn't run the controller at 100% on either phase current or battery current limit. It WILL let out the magic smoke at that setting.

50KW controller with field weakening

Hi all!!! I have now been on a few test runs of the Fazer build (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1553731#p1553731) It is power limited by the controller (20kw), the motor can easily do 30 or even 40kw peak for brief periods. I am looking for a controller that can handle this (400am...

Re: Update on my Fazer 600 conversion

I would have much rather gone with a sevcon, or something that actually puts out its rated output without blowing up. I have a battery voltage of 116.1 when fully charged, which I think is right on the edge of the sevcons voltage range. I have a kelly KHB12101 which can do 500 amps continuous and 10...

Thanks for all the info and advice. After some wiring changes, and fixing a high resistance connection, the pack is now balanced to ...

Re: Update on my Fazer 600 conversion

Thanks! The batteries came from a 2016 nissan leaf with 20 miles (long story), but are basically new modules. Its an Enertrac 602, 20KW continious water cooled motor. I think it should probably be able to take 40kw for brief periods. More info here: https://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.ph...

Update on my Fazer 600 conversion

So, like everyone around the world, I am stuck indoors, with nowhere to go, due to the current coronavirus. Nearly 1 year ago today, I removed all the Gen 1 (24KWH pack) cells out of my purchased fazer conversion. I bought the bike from a guy who had already converted it. Shortly afterwards the Kell...

Re: Enertrac 602 temp sensor

Sorry, its the best I could find. Zooming it makes it larger.

I am waiting for a response from enertrac regarding sensor placement. Its water cooled but measuring the water temperature directly will have a delay vs motor temp, which is no good for protection.
