Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Looks like I have some catching up to do! Thank you guys for this thread and all the documentation. I'll be playing with my own TSDZ2 shortly. Working on getting it all linked up. Anyone know what the potting compound is in the controllers? Silicone? Just trying to get an idea of what I'm up against...

Wanted: Nuvinci N171 Developers Kit (Automatic)

Title says it all! I’m looking for the semi-hard to find N171 with automatic developers kit. I might settle for a manual N171 if all the bits were there and the price was right. I’m not on ES much but you can PM me on here or send an email via my profile. I will try to check on this thread a couple ...

Re: Hallomotor hubs on ebay, August 2015

I wonder with Hallomotors 48V 1500W what output their sinewave controller has and if it is programmable. All I can tell you is that the Hallomotor/Conhismotor "1500w" controllers pull up to 45A from the battery. I've used a regen and non-regen sine wave controller and they make my ebike scoot. I ha...

Re: 1 Year Down The Road: Hardtail 29er Hub Drive Evolution

I ordered a Luna bluetooth 60A programmable controller this evening for an additional $97 bringing the grand total to $2039 with the e-bits being $1167 of it. That's a lot of money when I actually add it up. If I'd do it again I'd have build a full suspension mid-drive (Cyclone or BBSHD) and use a ...

Re: Risunmotor Mid Drive?

Higher power as in 52V or as in a reprogram or external controller?

I too am curious if these are Bafang knockoffs. I could save a little under $200 vs a BBSHD if these are legit performers.

Risunmotor Mid Drive?

I spotted these Risunmotor mid drives on eBay and a quick search didn't find anything worth mentioning on ES or other sites. I've never seen one before. Similar advertised performance vs Bafang motors but not a lot of cost savings on the lower power kits. Just curious if anyone had any experience or...

1000w 48v DD front wheel kit mechanic's special (works)

This kit was my first venture into ebikes. I think I paid $220 for it about two years ago from eBay. It was used for maybe 60 miles of riding before being retired. I'll start with the bad stuff. The rim is cracked all the way through from a 20 mph encounter with a big pothole on a vintage worksman t...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

Makes sense, the no load speed of the new motor is around 50 mph where as the no load speed of the 29er bike is 44 and change. If I was still single and without offspring I'd probably be neck deep into a motorcycle or small car conversion with both the time and money to do it right. As much as I'd l...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

If she rides it at times when she'd otherwise drive a car, everybody wins. I hope it works out that way. If she gets to riding it a lot, you should consider coming up with something better than a Mongoose (a bike I'd only give to a bum for free, and then only if I wouldn't be expected to maintain i...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

One more little follow up: We took our bikes around the block for a quick test ride. Apparently she was procrastinating trying it out. I'm guessing she didn't want me to be disappointed if she hated it. I was ready to strip all the e-bike parts off if she did, so no big deal there. Early on the ride...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

I've checked the pricing and availibility of LiPo's and see I can get serious range and power output for a lot less than my LiPO4's. But those LiPo horror stories on ES scare the pants off of me. I can't constantly monitor the batteries while charging. We have three kids and I am liable to get distr...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

Final follow-up before a ride review this coming week: This bike is now hers. I have the controller configured at minimum hall/battery current (50%) with the slow start set at maximum. It doesn't pull a full 30A from this battery either as configured either. Instead it settles in the low 20's at ful...

Re: Hallomotor hubs on ebay, August 2015

Hi BikeSexual... I have one of the 1500w Conhismotor (Hallomotor) kits on my bike. It is actually 135mm. It fit snugly in my Cannondale Trail SL5 29er aluminum frame bike without any stretching. I feel this kit is of a slightly higher quality than some of the other gamble kits on the market (of whic...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

This controller is advertised as plug and play with a cyclone motor. I knew I could be in for a challenge when mating it up to any old eBay motor. I feel lucky since all I did was match up the halls and experiment with the phase wires. It could've been way worse. I have the motor in the bike now wit...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

Thanks for the compliments on the ride eleven6 and nutspecial. I would have gone for 24" but the 26" kit was way cheaper than a 24" kit or buying a motor and spoking up a wheel. Maybe I'll look into that in the future. Dogman dan, how do they hold up to bumps and potholes? I like them better than th...

The BMX bars for my lame little moped were leftovers in the garage. I'll try to make them work before I start throwing more money at it. Thanks for the idea, I may well have to go that route. While those baseless comparisons would make great news headlines they are far from rooted in the reality of the situation. Clearly this is an emotional argument and I am done taking part in it. Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

We're now attempting to compare a 50 lb bicycle ridden under human power on a sidewalk to a 400 lb 200 mph sport motorcycle? The hyperbole astounds me. That GSXR rider doesn't go hauling ass at 180 mph through suburban streets, they save it for the track. (I hope.) The rest of the time they operate ...

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

I won't be hooning the thing on a sidewalk. There a few points where I have to go on a sidewalk to avoid oblivious college kids more consumed with their cell phones than where they're going at 50 mph on a stretch of road known for continuous OVI's. I'd be riding a 50 lb bike at <10 mph on the sidewa...

Spinningmagnets, I will definitely take the ferrofluid tip. I plan to ride this bike much less conservatively than my other. I may as well upgrade the phase wires when I have the motor open. I guess I won't be pushing it that hard yet... Reasoning is found below. It's a 14S7P Samsung 26f pack I boug...

I am not 100% sure on the exact relationship between Conhismotor and Hallomotor. A lot of Conhismotor eBay items have a Hallomotor watermark on the photos and the user is listed as being a Hallomotor store. Conhismotor have a limited eBay selection compared to their website but the prices are better...

Yuyang King 60A Bluetooth Controller Calibration

Could anyone tell me if the calibration feature on this controller is a self-learn for the hall sensors? Or is it simply for wheel diameter and speed? I'll be testing it out this weekend and don't want to make any assumptions.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Cheap urban FS DD beater

FluxZoom, after a lot of googling, it is a Mongoose Snare, a $300 Walmart bike. Dogman dan, my first thought when attempting to fit the tires last night was to extend the dropouts. My LBS is run by a really nice guy who does great custom work. I'll have to ask him about that since my welder is MIA a...
