Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing

Thanx for lab tests, its good work. Now real life test. I have 900Wh Samsung 35E 52V 14S 5P Jumbo Shark battery ( https://fasterbikes.eu/de/akkus/225/900wh-flaschenhalter-akku-52v-14s-5p-jumbo-shark?c=47 ) on Giant Trance X2 + BBSHD. I ride single mountain trails. I take good care of battery: - char...

Buy 4 50W 12V halogent bulbs, connect in series and you get 200W 48V 5A load. Thats how I test my batt.

Giant Trance 2010-2012 has huge space for batteries. BBSHD (90-100mm) fits fine with additional adapter.

Re: Specialized Levo vs BBSHD

I have BBSHD (on Giant Trance x2 2012) and ride 80% mountain trails - very steep ones. I invited my friend with his Giant Trance E+2 PRO 2019. He stood no chance. Then I tried his bike. My opinion about "Giant Trance E+2 PRO 2019". Good: + PAS with torque sensor + look Bad: - motor noise (much loude...

My old BBSHD from avgust 2018 was limited to 25 A in firmware (vendor aliexpress) . I didn't like that limitation  . Now I have 30A and 52V from fasterbikes --> whole new best with 1600+W peak power    :bigthumb:

When my battery to BBSHD connector got contaminated by dirt I got errors 30, 21, 04 and voltage spikes on display. After cleaning and propper seal there are no problems anymore. Maybe check your connector.

Re: Will the cold winter Shorten the life?

I think I damaged my Panasonic PF cells a lot with winter. I had it on BBS02 and used to leave bike out in about freezing temepreatures so battey was freezing cold. I noticed huge voltage sag when I demanded 500+ W. Range was allmost half. I rode like that ~10 times. I also charged it when it was co...

Re: BBSHD Build with GX Eagle 1x12?

I use shimano 9 speed converted to 3 speed (36-21-14) on my bbshd (42t). 3 speeds are enough for me (I ride mountain trails mostly with PAS with 500-1000w). Used to have 5 speed but 3 is just perfect - less shifting. I replace 2 chains and cassetes per 3000 km. I would not suggeest anything over the...

I got my bbshd from ali in 2018-july and firmware was locked at 25A. Beware.. It seems it had weaker controller. Now i have new one from fasterbikes and it has propper controller. Good to know. Was it advertised as the 750 W or 1000 W model? From reading up on them, it seems like the BBSHD has some...

My BBSHD has 100 km on and it makes similar sound when there is no load. When it drives me around or i apply brake, it is allmost silent / no grinding noise. I am not worried in my case.

Try applying brake load on wheel.

Re: Time for a new battery? How will a degraded battery act under load compared to resting?

The same thing happend to my Panasonic NCR18650PF. I have 13S4P configuration. They should hold 40 A max burst. I used them on BBS02 with regular discharge of 15-20 A. After 2,5 years (and about 300 cycles, 8000 km with BBS02) they sagg a lot (LCV cuts out at 41V) when on discharge above 10 A. That ...

I had same symtopms. After cooling down motor worked but can only run on 200W. Anything more will overheat it. My windings are black burned. I have BBSHD now, it is much better motor for running at 800-1200w .

I have BBS02 on Trance.. no problems with clearance, just have to be carefull when going over logs or big stones. I have 250 psi in rear shox for higher pedal clearance .
Thanks. Do you ride single track?

Re: Giant Trace Full Suspension + Bafang BBS02

Yeah 26 inch are much better for ebikes imo. Less stress on drivetrain in case of mid-drives and better torque for hub drives. I don't have lots of flat tyres on full susp bike.. maybe once per 3 months when i ride throu thrones. Key is to have good tyre - worn out ones get holes fast. In previous h...

Giant Trace Full Suspension + Bafang BBS02 -> STOLEN :'(

First was GT Agressor with BBS02, but I missed full suspension and better brakes (it had Vbrakes, not good for wet grasslan...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

My BBS02 750w is 1,5 years old and have 5000 km, mostly riding in mountain grasslands and woods under full power. I love my e-bike but had 3 major failures on BBS02: 1. Small metal pinion gear was made of peanutbutter steel - it got deformed after 2000 km. Dealer replaced it, no problems since. 2. A...

Re: Cleaning Chain on BBS02

After messy mud ride i clean it with warm water spray from hose and then relube if it is dry. I lube with chain oil for wet ride. I replace chain every ~2000km. Replace cassette every 3000 km (after 12 and 14 t starts skipping). Simple.
