Yes, i agree, think it might be with field weakening and 6000rpm. Can’t remember

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

But there’s a constant torque region up to where the current cannot be reached anymore due to BEMF. Here the systems are the same no matter what battery voltage up to where the lower battery voltage sets the limits. (Output power with fixed current is proportional to rpm, not constant.) As soon as t...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

Problem is that the important guy hasn’t said it can be done. With rpm limiting yes, away from max rpm yes
But it’s not power matching aV*2bA to 2aV*bA that’s done.

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

That’s poor design :lowbatt:
So it basically just lowers max PWM duty cycle to 50% if you set 50%

84/60=71% so there’s a 29% max reduction in your set rpm limit over the full discharge. Not good.

Re: What's with this censoring nonsense happening on the forum?

You've been asked politely to avoid posting in EG's threads (I saved the PM's), and EG has been politely asked to avoid posting in your threads. And yet you just posted in EG's thread. The bigger question regards policy that can have a long-lasting effect on future posts on ES. Is this censorship? ...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

It's still making pretty much the same amount of torque, just not more RPMs. @ EG: No. Can’t be bothered to link anything but i urge you to look at any torque-speed curve. Is torque constant at higher rpm? if you want to limit by power you regulate the amps. ... controller would not even "need" an ...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

Don’t be so nasty merlin. I honestly can’t see what you want to have, don’t think the others understand you either. You want constant output curve over the entire discharge? So basicly used voltage will be restricted through the pwm to about 60V for a 72V nominal system and used max current will sti...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Don’t buy a kelly KLS.. i’ve had five of these go kaput. Poor design, poor quality and low power. Low volt of the votol: don’t know but fairly sure it’s in the thread already. Why 11s? That’s not any standard battery voltage so i guess you don’t have this battery already. The rpm limit of the votol ...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Hall angle I suspect there is a correction angle in the software itself which only works in the positive direction, but of course I can't say for sure. The correction is the phase angle setting. If it runs weird in one direction and good in the other means that either the setting is still not optim...

Re: QS 3000w midmotor

Try to find the largest difference max-min on the rotation of the rotor. It’s not much and can be related to the possible reluctance torque (if i remember it correctly.) A link to this is already in this thread i believe.

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Mosfet specs look good as far as i can tell but i am no expert in this.

The spec shows pulsed drain current as 480A so i think the basic limitation is the cooling if design is properly balanced - for peak output 470A is not close to the limits of the mosfet specs since there are four of them..

Re: QS 3000w midmotor

Hope someone has tried it already and can answer. I don’t regard kellys as good in any regard so therefore the votol (to me) is the obvious choice.

But if you have one lying around then why not try it, should work well enough.

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

What your butt feels is torque response, right? And this is related to available torque (current) and this is related to the drive voltage which cannot (ultimately) be kept constant without rpm limiting. I can’t see what a constant x kw setting would give? What did the CA function do that isn’t alre...

IPM optimized (e.g. Votol, ASI, maybe Nucular, haven't found any concrete info) controller, None of those controllers are IPM capable or have MTPA algorithm for IPM motors, it requires dynamic phase angle adjustment to the specific motor. APT96600 might work but the field weakening setting in my co...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

So it's 24 mosfets with rds of 2.8mohm, three phases of 8 total, 4 parallel high, 4 low side. It's either 120A per mosfet, 480A or max 8x208w dissipation (speced at 100 deg C) setting the limits with perfect current sharing. 1600+ watts is a lot to get rid of. I wonder if there's a derating factor t...

A mosfet comparison would be interesting :D

Shunt mods are not necessary since controller is unlocked..

I wonder if you can find the temp sensor (if there is one)
How are the fets mounted to the heatsink?
Is there a good heat path?

QS 138 70h 3000w mid drive kit for the win! Can recommend this motor/controller combination, have about 15000-20000 kms driven so far . Why buy some piece of poor quality sh*t? You’ll regret it. kV 75 or thereabouts with flux weakening, i reach about 6000rpm on 20s lipo

You check if you want to use dual voltage setting or not in the program. Read manual for where it is
