Re: Converting a beach cruiser with front wheel motor.

There's a hole in the fork for the reflector which I used for a Tektro caliper brake with about 100 mm (AIR) reach ($20 Amazon). Didn't mention it because the performance doesn't compare to a disc or "V" brake. Someday I'll procure Koolstop pads and determine how much that improves performance, but ...

Re: What is the best motor for a mid drive build?

I've had almost five excellent years with a BBS02 mid-drive on a hardtail steel frame with 52V battery. IMO, for off road riding it is less vulnerable than the options except the Revel Propulsion system.

Re: Converting a beach cruiser with front wheel motor.

I built a Bikes Direct Nexus three-speed cruiser with ebikeling 1200w front motor (ebikeling is excellent IMO) and 52V rear rack Luna battery. Fun ride on a bike capable of 33 or so mph. Biggest problem, which you'll also encounter, is braking. The rear coaster is adequate as long as you're able to ...

Not to derail, and I'll be excited to watch your progress, but I had a 1980 or so 400 that was a dream to ride back in the ICE days. I miss it like all of my motorcycles, but am reluctant to become a hood ornament.

I've had good success receiving answers from them, usually within hours, with their support system, if this isn't answered here. Have you tried that or is it closed down by the current situation?

Re: la Nina rears her ugly head

Wish a storm would miss socal. Rained off and on all night, pretty hard at times. Off road excursions would be mud-fests, so reduced to street riding, which isn't as dangerous as usual with fewer cars on the road or some form of ambulatory activity.

IMO Chalo clashed with the wrong people (person), and Luke didn't like the way one of his friends was treated; I agree with Chalo and Luke if I am correct in this.

Although more of a newbie, I agree that Chalo and Luke contributed significantly. IMO, we have ideas why they're gone.

In the US, it's xcceries and where I got my 48V, 1000w system about five years ago. They seem to have other "companies" that sell the same systems from the same general area (allinone for example) and are still selling their motors on ebay here.

Re: la Nina rears her ugly head

Pretty good rain for socal on and off for the past 10 or so hours. Supposed to keep up for at least a week. Really impinging on riding especially when that's the only reason to leave the house.

Not a tremendous volume, but it's been raining on and off for the last three or four days in socal, and is projected to continue for another four or so. This after nothing appreciable in February.

You might think twice about shipping that battery. I've heard the fine is substantial ($50K?) if it's not through a hazardous goods shipper.

Re: Heckler test ride ?

MR, the Santa Cruz is a Class 1 bike AFAICT. I think you will be underwhelmed by the performance.

I think having extra weight on the forks is an individual thing which I didn't care for. I'd suggest you put something about the weight of the batteries on your bars and see how you like it.

Thanks for posting; Danny has incredible abilities not the least of which is knowing how to fall. My son still has a mid-90's Heckler, which has been ridden extensively but is extremely durable and may be converted some day.

Be interesting to consider the logistics of trying to reschedule for 2020 with companies displaying from all over. Always look forward to the event, but alas guess it'll be a trip to Death Valley instead.

Re: The end of BionX?

Curious, ELBY, who were/are offering their bike with the 500 motor, say they have the parts and expertise to service them. I remember test riding that system in a MTB and it seemed more powerful than any "Class 3" OEM bike I've ever sampled.

Re: BBS02 just died, any pointers?

When it occurs simultaneously to two different systems that had been operating perfectly, doesn't it have to be the battery? Batteries can show appropriate charge with no load, then misbehave when stressed.

I don't mind the changes, would just like uniformity. Also, IMO some of the changes weren't improvements like press fit BB some of which squeak like a mouse in a trap.

Pretty much why I rarely ride on the street, mostly for my own protection from the crazies in cars, but also since my bike(s) are more powerful than they're supposed to be. It'll be a motorcycle if I ever get the urge to go fast on road again.

Looks like its a really compact rear susp system. https://bikemagic.com/bikes/giants-maestro.html But any of that style, where the bottom mount of the rear suspension is close to the BB and the shock goes straight up... saves a lot of room for more batteries. Re: Complete bosch performance line cx 2019 removal, need help and advice

Infeasible to remove Bosch system and use the rest of the bike. Either use the warranty to get discrepant parts repaired, sell what you have and start over or take off the wheels, derailleurs, bars, brakes etc and put on a DIY system.
