Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

Looking at your picture closely I can see you still have the speed sensor visible through the cutout in the top case. On mine this was tied to the stator, and the stator stayed in the more inner half of shell when I separated the two halves of the wiring shell. Is the thing you are having difficulty...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

Maybe you can check out the homepage of the diy spotwelder guy ; I really like his option to chose between assembling the stuff yourself or getting the entire kit.... But it requires affordable products. The higher the premium, the higher the post selling service expected by customers. Personally I...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

Update: Oil fill has started leaking 6 months post fill.
It's leaking from both the wiring side, and from the case closure past the o-ring. Wiring side is worse than the case side.

Good thing is that both these spots mean no oil gets on the disk.

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

It's out of scope of this project, but if you had a controller setup for USB C PD and ran power through a motor phase to use as a boost convertor you could have a nice little 100 watt charger available anywhere.

Re: G360 vs eZee, MAC

I just love the graph with the MAC and the G360... As most know, the drawback of the MAC is keeping it cool... IMO liquid cooling is the best option...by liquid cooling... Tough to get better heat transfer than convective cooling with a liquid. The G360 may have slightly less efficiency, BUT it com...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

I also ordered a rm g360 from alibaba Gomax..this supplier was indicated in the first page..i think, and after 2 months of waiting and lots of lies from this GOMax scammer i finally gave up and filed for a refund. They definitely aren't scammers, I did get the correct motor from them, but they were...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

Hey top to bottom phase FETs again!

I thought you went against that in the cheap FOCer because of induction concerns?

Also is that a "4 layer" PCB made of two sandwiched PCBs I spy, or just a rendering thing?

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

How do you think your 260rpm version would do speed wise in a 29er tire at 52v? Do you think a 280/300rpm version would be better if it's available? Depends on your goals! Way too slow I think for me personally). I think mine would actually suit a 29er more than a 26" at the 75v I run so that at fu...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

Thanks for the info. The g360 is also in there, but the disconnect between what motor voltage (Kv) rpm is input and what quoted rpm version motor from bafang is my issue. It's seems the 11t version in the simulator is showing 9.18rpm/v which should equate to a 330rpm motor (from bafangs system) at ...

Re: 2019 Motor Simulator, Mid-drives and other updates

The Bafang G360 is just over 4.0kg, while the similar sized eZee and MAC motors are already a bit lighter at 3.8kg. That would be OK if the G360 had higher sustainable power and torque capabilities, but when you do a normalized comparison between the two, you see that across the board a MAC motor h...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

55kmh = 34mph in 'murica units and 1100 watts would be lower than the power consumption we see on a known 90% efficiency motor. That CA calibrated correctly? or are you shaped like a stick figure? ( unusually low aerodynamic footprint ) Yeah, should be correct, I have exact tyre dimension...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

hm, try a grin tech torque arm if it's thinner? The grin tech ones don't fit my dropouts unfortunately, mine are too "3D". I had v1 clones on originally but they had to face the wrong way so I don't think it would be doing much. Even the new one I had to grind out to fit around some welds. Nobody k...

Re: NEW BOLT ON TORQUE ARMS for IS disc caliper mnts 25$ shipped

Unfortunately I think it's a bit of a given just due to the variability in dropout design. I had to grind out from underneath in the areas I drew on to get around welds and the weird dropout shape. This is the only arm I've found that gets close to fitting my bike. My previous grin v1 clones needed ...

The torque arm has arrived and I've boosted power output! Using this torque arm https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49635 I am a touch worried about engagement between the axle and nut. I only have enough axle length for 3/4 of the nut, with the only things on that side of the hub bein...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

How about quality helical metal gears like those: I know at least one person put metal gears in a SWXH, they described it as sounding like a coffee grinder when actually riding, very loud. That would probably be the case here too, especially as only one of the stages is helical How did you attach t...

Great work mate, glad to see the project is progressing so well.

Are you planning on open sourcing the design files too later down the line? Or just keeping it at a Gerber's level?

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

Yes I want to move to a VESC based controller. I'm hoping that with the inset magnets the motor will respond well to a proper FOC scheme, hopefully top speed/torque curve should be able to be extended with some field weakening. About time they improved geared hub motors. Excuse my ignorance, but th...

Re: Bafang G3xx series high reduction ratio geared hub motors

You do if you want to change the gears tho. Nope not on the G360! Looking at this vs the G310 teardown Justin did you can see that internally the motor is flipped, the inner gears are on the opposite side, to get to them you just undo the 6 bolts and take the one cover off, much more maintainable. ...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

seems like the opposite of the recommended laminated bus bar. Yeah probably. But bus bars sized for PCBs like this aren't easily available to me or anyone else on the DIY level. You can get by with lengths of solid core copper wire and stuff but I'm trying to avoid anything like that. Completely ag...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

So I take it looking at your renders there are no bus bars in this design, you'll be using direct connection at each FET set to positive and ground?

Very impressed with the size your packing this into, 100x50 means you can hide it under your BB and it's essentially invisible!

Re: I designed a simple 3D-printed solderless battery pack.

Nice design, I like that is it so simple and doesn't need anything special other than just a nickel strip, vs the springs and things other designs need. Couple of points though: 1. The screw fittings don't need the hex top if you are using a screwdriver to tighten them, you can shorten them by remov...
