52T is a controller burner if not a avid user of the appropriate gears.

Re: Do I really need a switch for the battery if I have a controller switch?

I have several bikes that don't have a switch on the battery and I don't unplug it (unless doing service). No issues with it draining while off. Do you have a cycle analyst on any of them? I do and often forget to turn the system off, and have NEVER had a battery lose any voltage. You must have ano...

In my experience, those are in fact "indicators", not reliable gauges.
I establish my actual battery mileage and plan my charges based on mileage.

Re: Replaced Lyen with Grin controller now runs backwards

MY BAD!!! I used a C4820-GR_Higo made for a gear drive, perhaps that's the issue. Guess I'll try my baserunner. Or setup my backup wheel, a MAC.

Re: Replaced Lyen with Grin controller now runs backwards

If it's running smoothly backwards (not drawing excessive current), you could try swapping two of the three phase wires with the new controller to get it to switch direction. interesting, but that's no easy project from my view. with my EM3ev controllers, the phase wires are easily accessible but w...

Replaced Lyen with Grin controller now runs backwards

Well, my experience with hub motor problems is nonexistent. I've never had an issue until my CA3 went whacky. I decided to change the controller at the same time I replaced the CA3. BUT the Grin controller runs the motor in reverse?!?!?!?? went back to Lyen controller and runs forward.... What the h...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

My habit of keeping spare parts saved the day. A quick trip to the parts bin and the new CA3 has me up and running in short order. However, I’m curious as to what may have gone bad and wondering if there’s a fix. The display just shut off. Turning ignition switch off an on made the CA blink and disp...

Re: Primer on Wiring Lights into an Ebike System?

Hey there, I have built up two electric bikes (Bafang mid-drive and direct drive hub motor with PAS through CA). I am okay at working through the technical jargon but I am no expert! I can usually find what I want around the internet. But I cannot find out how to wire lights into my Bafang BBS02 48...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

It has a 46 tooth chain ring on it and a 32 rear. May need to go up to a 42 or bigger rear to have avoided the controller overheat. My 110 pound grand son was on it pedaling some 50 -55 rpms next to me when it went dead. Just on low pas level settings, maybe 40% power. Center leg again. We were abo...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Good old Bafang doesn't share any serial numbers tied to changes.
I'm curious, how fast were you riding and climbing and what was your gear ratio?

Controllers are getting really hard to find for "A" version BBS02. Often expensive enough to justify a bare motor BBS02B.

The bracket is at a perfect height on many frames. But trying to manufacture and design for additional frame geometry just isn't in the cards. It's a shame they don't address your issue, but that said I now support them and sell them and never have used one. My 3 properly torqued BBSHD fixing plate ...

I bought my kit from EM3ev because I liked their batteries and I wanted a complete kit from one vendor for my first build. I ordered my kit on 4/15/2020 and received the last item (the battery by ground) on 5/31/2020.

Doug sells only EM3ev batteries.

Re: BBSHD 100mm or 120mm kit for a 100mm bb?

If you check out the entire cost with shipping et al, Doug California eBike is competitive. He answers the phone and email promptly.

Every day he has calls for support from buyers that purchased elsewhere. And there is no support or support takes 3 days.

Why not a battery from EM3ev? Great builds.

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

I have an EM3ev 36V 17Ah battery purchased last year. It was stored in a 50F basement for the winter. Satiator won't recognize it and insists I should plug in a battery. Multimeter reads 29V, an 8V drop since stored. Force charge doesn't work, I get the same message.
