Re: Neematic - 20kW middrive bike

- Battery specs say 50V 2.2 kW. Do they mean 12S @ 110aH of an undisclosed cell type? Website says a 6 hour recharge so aprox 18 Amp charge? Batteries are supposed to be hot-swappable This is such a stupid, embarrassing error to neglect the kW h on your own launch brochure. By the sounds of it, pac...

Well my personal Max-E got repaired like 2 times already. Worked really great with them. Hopefully not the whole controller is damaged but only the display instead.
Cheers

Re: Fatal ebike crash trial

I hope that wasn't a forum member, traveling 10mph over the speed limit in a crowded city setting and then leaving the scene of an accident. He deserves some punishment. Does England have the legal concept of contributory negligence, where a percentage of the fault can be assigned to the respective...

Good luck with that. I'm not aware of any recent repair successes. Tell your friend to get on the Nucular waiting list asap!

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Generally drop-shippers charge their customers a premium for access to "their" parts, that they don't actually have at all lol. OK, but it's pure speculation on your part if that is what they are actually doing or not, right? You can just go buy the parts for less from a real dealer, but you do as ...

Hopefully he's a little more open to learning as he goes and doesn't take everything overly personal. There's clearly a lot of dicks on Endless Sphere. Absolutely fantastic. I'm glad 'motormodder' is going to follow in EGs footsteps and evaluate this motor. Hopefully he's a little more open to learning as he goes and doesn't take everything overly personal.

Re: Neematic - 20kW middrive bike

Thread title is 20kw but all the published specs are 15, which is possible, though seems unlikely to maintain that output for any length of time. 2.2kwh pack assembled from 18650s or 21700 cells is pretty maxed out at 15kw output. Personally, I think the pedals at this power level are pointless and ...

Right... 90k income - Aus $22,597. NZ $21,871. You are familiar with the function of numbers right? I would have paid $3500 more in Aus this year, not including all the other ways Australia essentially taxes people, health insurance, car registration, mandatory vehicle insurance which are all an ord...

Re: GM retreating into its shell ?

Small economies like Au have to have high taxes unless they have large trade surplus from natural resources like Oil, Gas, coal, Iron ore , etc. If you limit or eliminate the exploitation of those resources , you can expect even higher taxes. Mate, you post a lot of bollocks - but this takes the ca...

100% buy the 12f. For what you're doing you will want the phase amps, power limit doesn't matter so much.

Re: Motortrend article with tons of info about Tesla’s Cybertruck

DSG gearboxes are great but I suspect will be expensive timebombs when a lot of these cars get to 10 years old. It'll probably end up being the case that if it goes wrong most people will scrap the car. I've also observed that approx 1990-2005 or so was a good period for cars in terms of refinement...

Likely not economic to reuse, given how much larger newer wind turbines have become. There's also been a lot of iterative improvement in blade profile over the last 15 years.

Sounds cool. Not sure you're going to have enough phase amps or response out of the Kelly to snap the front wheel up though, they're known for being underwhelming on low end torque and low speed throttle response.

That said there are both BL AC motors and BL DC motors. 3 phase BL DC is "pulsed" direct current not to be confused with alternating (BL AC) current ... https://www.motioncontrolonline.org/products/ac-brushless-motors.cfm Not really true and somewhat confuses the issue further. Re: 100% discharge rate capacity

No, again, your graph is meaningless. The % figures you reference have ZERO bearing on how this works.

Forget you ever read the table with those figures as they have literally nothing to do with calculating lifespan, efficiency, power etc.

Re: Observed trials bike designing

Running a motor on a lower voltage will merely reduce its usable RPM range, plus power in the higher portions of that range. Due to the effects of bemf, you will be unable to drive the same current as RPMs increase vs if you had a higher voltage pack. The low down torque will be largely unaffected h...

Re: Controller comparison Nucular 24F, Power Velocity 25

+1 for the Nucular. It's the full package. Control, power, reliability, feature set, support. I'm running 500 phase 250a battery on a Surron and it's absolutely fantastic. I've owned most controller brands, in some cases many variants - this is easily the best solution for lightweight EVs (and even ...

What are you talking about? 3a doesn't kill a 30q. The percentages you're referencing mean *NOTHING* Read my previous post, look at the graph - what you're describing is utterly meaningless. a cell is designed to work a certain way, if you putt around in a hot rod car at 900rpm, its going to start to run like crap and carbon will start to build up and eventually it will stall. samething with a battery if its running at 100% the matrix inside is working the way its supposed to. if a 30q...

Re: Observed trials bike designing

It's impossible to replicate the functionality of a clutch, having the ability to dump that stored energy near instantly is pretty killer - but I think you could get pretty close with enough of a reduction ratio. I've got a Nucular 24f, I think it's absolutely fantastic. Votol/Kelly/etc are absolute...

Re: 100% discharge rate capacity

It's not relevant - measurement of mAh output is not the same as energy out. Higher discharges will output at a lower average voltage. The measured energy (wh) will be lower as discharge current increases due to losses.

Re: 100% discharge rate capacity

Where on earth are you getting these mysterious % figures? Any cell will deliver less energy the higher the discharge current as more is lost as heat due to cell IR. To get '100%' of a cells capacity, you should be aiming to run it at the lowest possible level of discharge. There is no efficiency cu...

Awesome work Lars! How will you go about calculating the inertia? Last weekend I did a bunch of reading about doing exactly this! I came across one quite excellent solution which was an enormous AC induction motor. All of the stator copper was removed and a large hole cut in the top of the motor hou...

Re: 100% discharge rate capacity

You're probably right - at 1c constant discharge (which yes, would be 3.0 amps) and 100% DoD cycle life will not be great. However in reality, it is impossible to actually do that regularly on an EV, or if you are - you have made a very, very bad battery pack for your requirements. Pack in question ...
