Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I believe this is a 2 cross, based on this web page. I think most of these ebike wheel build are 2 cross and never 3 cross. How exactly are you seeing a 3 cross? I would consider editing your prior message so not to confuse anyone if we figure out that this is laced in 2 cross. https://www.purecycle...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Hey guys, I'm trying to measure this hub for spoke size. Does anyone know where I take the flange to lock nut measurements? The issue I am having is where are the ends of the hub? Do I just measure to the flat part at the end or do I need to put the axle through the hub and measure there? The other ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Does anyone know what cross the stock rear wheel is laced in?

Like is it 2 cross or 3 cross?

Thanks

Also I run the Michelin Starcross 5 Mediums they fit perfectly. These tires are known to run narrow on mx bikes and are a lot lighter due to the thinner sidewalls.
What size are you running in the rear? How quickly do these tires wear on the rear?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Does anyone know if the Sur-Ron rear wheel is dished any? Going to lace an 18" wheel and need to know if I should dish it. What size of 18 are you going with? Rix, I have an 18x3.00 Shinko 241 tire. That really is probably the best tire for this bike. I do like the stock tire, but it wears away ver...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

20s14p could fit inside a sur-ron sized battery case. I calculated it was very possible if you pack the cells tightly together and do not use cell spacers. You really do not need spacers for the battery cells, while the cells do heat up a bit, the cells do not exceed their temperature limits before ...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

I see your point, but I really like the look of the stock Sur-Ron controller. It says Sur-Ron on it and doesn't look like a generic controller case mounted to the front of the bike. Look at this sur-ron bike its pure beauty. The black Sur-Ron housing which says Sur-Ron on it and the X through it jus...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

Ohbse, did you order your 24Fet controller specifically to fit inside Sur-Ron controller? Was there any issues with gutting the Sur-ron stock controller? What do you mean trimming back the plastic pieces? Would you be able to put back your sur-ron original controller in the sur-ron housing if you ne...

Alex, do you know how easy it is to remove the surron controller out of the housing? I know its potted in there. After removing the surron controller from the housing i just need to tap holes to bolt the nuclear controller into the case? I guess a hole for each fet? Do you know if you can put the st...

Why did you want it built into the Sur-Ron controller housing?

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

Is the 24 Fet controller good to go for buying one now?

Is there any reason to wait for further modification or updates before purchasing the 24 Fet? Possibly like a better screen, or updated other parts inside the controller?

Thanks for some insight here.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Luna isn't making all that much profit from each bike are they? How much profit margin is there really on this bike. Honestly, the Sur-Ron is dirt cheap for what you get and included in that price is the 25% tariffs that nobody can get around. To Luna defense, they took on the risk to take in high n...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I weighed the stock Sur Ron 19" 70/100 tires and the shinko 241 18x3.00 tire. Stock Sur-Ron tire = 4.5 lbs Shinko 241 18" 3.00 = 7.5 lbs That is a bit of additional weight that you may feel in the rear. The Sur-Ron tires are decent tires they just wore out way to quickly in the rear. 500 miles is ju...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Offroader did that shinko 3 inch x 18 tire fit on thr stock sur Ron rim? No rubbing on the sides against frame? Good quesiton, I didn't actually try and see if it would fit. Considering a 3.5" shinko 241 tire just about fits, this should fit no problem. It doesn't seem to be all that much wider tha...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Finally decided to order a shinko 241 18x3.00. Like I've said, the 18x3.00 is way better than the 19x2.75" version of the shinko 241 that many I see are using here. The reason is the 3.00 is made for the rear and the 2.75 for the front. I have been through this with my other bike, the 3.00 version o...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

A friction held bike stem on a heavy machine like this is a terrible idea. Only direct mount should be used. If you need rise, get a higher rise bar, not a long gooseneck stem like a $100 bike. I find the friction stems have held up 100% of the time on my Sur-Ron. I don't even tighten down on it th...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I upgraded the brakes on my Sur-Ron to Saint brakes. What surprised me was I drove a short distance and locked up the rear brakes a couple of times to swing the rear around. When I parked the bike I noticed a smell from the rear of the bike. I then noticed the rotor and the caliper were burning hot....

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I bought another deity handlebar. The Sur-Ron handlebar sweep angle was not good and always felt bad. It held my wrists in a bad angle. Could never get used to it. The Sur-Ron bar is more straight while the Deity bends more towards you. You won't know the Sur-Ron bar sucks unless you use a proper ba...
