Re: Lebowski's motor controller IC, schematic & setup, new v2.A1

thanks--i can live with "suboptimal", if it's reliable, and i end up with the control features i'm after. it also then gives me the easy option of switching to 28s (or whatever) later if i end up with the busbars for 28s1p (or the space and need for two 14s2p packs in series). i'm pretty sure the d...

and not to be annoying, but just to check what's been said: this honda ima doesn't have a lower operating voltage limit (other than the gate drivers being powered externally) and should be able to operate on a 14s pack (52v nominal)? just planning ahead for what i have to do to the trike to convert...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

I've been lurking for a few months trying to figure out which way is up. Every time I think I've found the latest I find a new version. It's great but difficult to figure out which way to go. I'd like to build this power stage and have a few ideas to help the overall design be a bit more modular / ...

Re: Lebowski's motor controller IC, schematic & setup, new v2.A1

a simple dc-dc from the traction battery ought to be able to do the 12v, right? would one dc-dc work for two ima's, or would it require separate ones for isolation? how much current would be required? i'm sure i can find a cheap but reliable 12v dc-dc i can use for this, if i don't already have som...

Re: Lebowski's motor controller IC, schematic & setup, new v2.A1

If you are looking for 4kW per controller then this design by Lebowski will do the job: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=91689 It is also easy to assemble and takes the BobC Lebowski brain directly. The Honda IMA will also work but is overkill for your application and it requir...

Re: True FOC: definition and examples

If you are familiar with FOC nomenclature then in my opinion any controller that is capable of controlling Iq and Id is a true FOC controller. On that basis the Lebowski controller qualifies. The fact that it is also capable of field weakening, acceleration limiting, angular velocity control, temper...

For hardware, is the BobC Lebowski brain still an easy way to go for a compact SMD control PCB? Are there Gerber files available for this? https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=87104#p1272695 For a power PCB would this be a great place to start? https://endless-sphere.com/forums/vi...

Thank you for the explanation of how your code works and the source code. I feel like I am riding on a magic carpet driving my scooter with a Lebowski controller as it is so quiet and the torque control is brilliant. :bigthumb:

As Cole mentioned elsewhere we have been working together on a project to get the Honda IMA inverter running properly with a Lebowski BobC brain. We have the setup running pretty well in sensorless mode at 190V. Both the IMA inverter and the Hyundai HSG 6 pole pair motor are good for in excess of 20...

No surprises there, as a petrol head from way back I have always considered Top Gear a comedy show.

Re: More than3 phases

Phase_7_motor_specs.PNG Fisher & Paykel makes 7-phase motors. Falco makes 5-phase motors. Somewhere around here there is a thread that has large six-phase motors, which allows the option of running it on two common 3-phase motors. F&P phase 7 is a marketing term, motor specs from the phase 7 manual...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

Well I haven't seen any research suggesting that, and I've looked at a lot. I'm not saying that it isn't true, but the greater percentage of axial's out there are double rotor designs, or single rotor double stator. If there was much of an advantage to the one sided single rotor design, then all th...

That would mean that multiplied with the 7.94 gear reduction of the Leaf Drive train it puts out 3183Nm of torque to the wheel. That can't be correct? Sure it can. Arlo's motor made 302.3 hp. Convert that to metric watts. You say the motor only makes 50Nm. Based on your assertion calculate ...

So 401Nm/7.94 (gearbox reduction)= 50.5Nm from the motor.
I think the 400Nm must have been from the motor.
Yes of course it is 400Nm from the motor, the factory Gen1 leaf makes 280Nm. A puny e-bike hub motor makes more than 50Nm.

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

There is a massive amount of published research on axial flux motors. One of the more important design parameters regardless of the size of the motor is the ratio of the internal radius to external radius of the stator ring, that is Ri/Ro. A normalized plot of torque production shows a theoretical m...

All that extra copper length and resistance. It's got distributed winding, how can it be worth it? In theory there's less harmonics and eddy losses, higher winding factor but it must be possible to improve a lot with a concentrated winding.. It does have concentrated wingings, maybe take a closer l...
