Re: Breaking all the rules

Finally decided to lace up that hub, just had to drill the spoke holes for 10g spokes... anyone who is curious to see just how much abuse a 3 speed hub can take, stay tuned  https://i.ibb.co/bdZvyNz/20190917-172909.jpg I had to keep the derailleur as a chain tensioner, as the chain legnth s...

Re: Breaking all the rules

I hope you have better luck with your SA hub than I have. I am about to take mine off and throw it in a dumpster. I give the hub maybe 5 minutes of your riding haha. Maybe the 3 speeds are stronger? I'm relying on the 3 speeds supposedly being extra durable.. Since you don't have pedals I'd ditch t...

Re: Breaking all the rules

Very cool bike. Seems like youre having lots of fun with this build. Appreciate the comments! This is definitely my funniest ebike build to date. The power to weight ratio is just insane! Yeah, add a new chain and a new sprocket/chainring at the same time. You may not have had a bad chain-drop unde...

Re: Breaking all the rules

I think I'm due for a fresh chainring   this is the same one I've been using over a year now but it definitely was no where near this bad last time I had a look at i5 https://i.ibb.co/6mvdjqd/20190823-041559.jpg Only reason I even noticed is because the chain guard cracked off...I'm am...

Kona Stinky frame Cyclone 3000w motor 72v 50 amp 20ah battery 72v 50a controller Full motocross body kit and seat 7 speed freewheel but using bigger gears only, you reach top speed in 4th gear anyway. Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I don't think 90v is the way to go, just shunt it to 60 or 70a. Afaik the 40 and the 60 are identical inside, and the 60 can be modded to 70-80. I would do that but A. My battery is already maxed at 50 amps. I could on the other hand add more in series but keep it at 50 amps for more power. 22s wou...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Has anyone ever modified one of these yuyangking controllers for higher voltage? I have the black 72v 40a bluetooth controller, currently shunt modded for 50 amps peaks. I want to go 22s for a touch more RPMs. Basically I want it to be able to reach the speeds it achieves with flux weakening (3rd sp...

Re: Qs205 getting hot after hall sensor replacement

Motor just caused my sabvoton to fail... wired it up to a regular square wave controller with automatic hall sensor and phase setup so theres no possibility of false positive .. this controller only puts out 30 amps for around 2500w maxx and the motor still heats up to a very hot temperature after a...

Re: Qs205 getting hot after hall sensor replacement

When the motor gets hot then you should have overheating protection and not over current that can mean two things. if you were not monitoring your motors temperature at the past not to be more than 140C then maybe the windings have started to fail melt down and the resistance is lower so it's harde...

Re: Qs205 getting hot after hall sensor replacement

The most likely thing is that (even if you don't think it happened) during the replacement, two of the hall signal wires were swapped, in a way that resulted in a false positive, which spins normally, but takes a lot more current, and gets hot. With a particular controller and motor, there are thre...

Qs205 getting hot after hall sensor replacement

I've been running a qs205 with my sabvoton 72080 flawlessly for quite some time. One day the halls failed on me in a heavy rain situation...and I was already on my spare set. Finally got around to replacing the halls but now I have a new problem. Now my motor gets very hot under any heavy riding, ev...

Ideas? The motor is made for bottom dollar by people who don't care that much and you slightly damaged some insulation / started to connect a winding to the stator or another winding when the internals were shocked / moved around slightly upon crashing. Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Hoping i could get some help diagnosing a problem with my 3000w cyclone motor after a small crash. I've had this thing as reliable as can be for a a lot longer than I expected for now. Once I got all the chain and crank alignment issues sorted, I've been running full 72v 40a power with no problem. 4...

Re: Persecuting E-Bikes in New York City

What I find is that they mostly go after the typical delivery guy ebike. I don't think they bother with the super ebikes. It seems that right now there are more ebikes in Manhattan than ever before. I notice them everywhere but they are not a problem as they stay in the streets. I wonder how they e...

Looks great! I thought NYC cops hated ebikes and were confiscating them until the law recently changed. They were targeting poor food delivery riders. That's a pretty cool spin on the EEB style frame. That is a monster of a battery pack! I like seeing different cells. 8) Appreciate all your comment...

Wow, you didn't even have to modify the swingarm.. Kinda jealous. I haven't been able to find a frame that's compatible ( with some modification ) with 20" wheels AND is an extra large size. What's your top speed these days? ever find the limit of that motor? :) Sad to say this bike was involved in...

Re: Boston Swing 5300 mAh and cell holders. Free shipping 20 battery U.S. Only

They definitely do perform right to spec as expected! A few pic of my soldering process. All it took was to create a tiny gap between the nickel strip welded on the positive side and the actual aluminum casing of the battery. A razor blade was perfect for this. It actually made soldering the positiv...
