Re: Very short range from battery, trying to diagnose

The BMS in the pic says 14s. 14 cells in series should be 58v-58.8v fully charged. Check the output of your charger without the batteries hooked up to it. That should give you a good idea what the chargers max voltage is. If its 55v then you aren't charging all the way. If it is 58v then something i...

Re: Genesis Swingarm aka Farfle Swing arm new production run.

Haha. Its been a good test mule for stuff since it has 2 wheels but I am currently looking at how to cram batteries in the triangle and its not looking too good. The 2100 with my swing arm does make for easy mounting of the LMX motor.

Re: Genesis Swingarm aka Farfle Swing arm new production run.

Totally hypothetical at this point but with the corona virus lockdown I might have time to weld up the last 2 arms that I have parts for. Is there any interest in these anymore?

Retro direct thing is cool but is there any workaround for its inability to roll backwards?

Re: Rough draft of a MelonDrive

Its a nice model but since you are asking I see a few obvious areas of concern. Efficiency: Every reduction is another efficiency loss. You have more stuff creating friction and adding weight at every stage. Basically you have to have a really compelling reason to use a small motor and lots of heavy...

Re: Ebike rear hub Kit 1000watt $100 OBO

Been getting a lot of questions about this lately. Its tentatively sold to e-biker who is just waiting on me to get the shipping finalized. I'll try to go back in the order I was contacted if for some reason this sale doesn't work out.

Thanks

Re: Observed trials bike designing

We should start a section on the forum where people post small item shipping requests. There has to be somebody flying from the US to AUS in the next few weeks. A sprocket in a carry on bag wouldn't be a big deal.

Re: Observed trials bike designing

#35 chain does not have rollers only bushings. I don't know why it is the standout in that regard but I don't want to spend money to find out. With the type of high reduction ratios we all end up with on these bikes 219 is a nice option. I believe that bore on the 22 tooth sprocket I got from Buller...

Throttle signal from the controller is 5v. The throttle measures 5k ohms closed and a few hundred ohms wide open.

Re: Heinzmann Motor and controller kit $75

It is a charming piece of history. It is not wide enough for a rear 135mm mount. It is made for front mount. It also has no freewheel or disk flange so I don't know how you would use it in a rear unless it had no pedals. Might make a better mid drive with as sprocket screwed to the outside shell. I ...

Re: DH Comp Rotomax Mid drive

Speaking of machining, how long have you been at it? Do you program setup and run parts for a living or just some of those tasks? I'm curious because I personally do all three at work. I even have a 5axis machine center to play with but I feel like everyone builds cooler stuff than me. I am relative...

Re: Heinzmann Motor and controller kit $75

Alright guys. Good news. I put 3mm of spacers per side on a non suspension fork and it looks like it will fit and spin just fine. It also clears the IS brake flange and the torque arm lines right up so it would be super easy to make torque arm that uses the brake mount. Actually the torque arm will ...

Re: Observed trials bike designing

3. That's true and is what I think I'll need to do. To retain a big rear sprocket to keep chain forces down I'll need to run a big front sprocket - eg to get a 15:1 overall reduction with the clutch primary reduction in the train, with a 90t rear I'd need a 21 tooth front. Looks like I might be mak...

Re: Observed trials bike designing

My lmx 30mm is 45kv. It came with a 12 tooth 219 sprocket. I run a 92 or 94 tooth rear on a 24" wheel on 20s so 75v nominal. This gearing does 48-50kph and has enough torque to wheelie on a long wheelbase bike when set to 4kw max. If a human rider on a trials bicycle can side hop over a meter with h...

Re: Observed trials bike designing

Clutch or not I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the abundance of smooth controllable torque an electric motor has to offer. Just fyi, the lmx seems to get along nicely with the nucular. Here is some amazing work with the lmx and nucular! https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&...

Re: Observed trials bike designing

Seems like quite a divergence from the original plan but still looks like it would be fun to ride. I agree with Altair about eliminating the clutch for the first try. When you were trying to convert a full weight moto trials bike it made sense. You are so far away from that with a mountain bike that...

I'd be ok with 40 but I'd guess it will be another 40 to ship. Sadly wheels are just big from any angle. Would you be ok with that?

I'll try to get a more specific shipping quote.

Re: Ebike rear hub Kit 1000watt $100 OBO

That rust  Yeah, I know. Its crazy. I was pleasantly surprised when it ran. The motor was donated to a bike based charity in my area. They don't really mess with ebikes for liability and tech support reasons so I try to sell any ebike stuff for them. It's not pretty but if anyone wants to ta...
