Re: Can we parallel BMSs to handle high current ?

I, at one time had a few hundred two cell packs. Each pack was 7.2 volts at 2200ah with its own BMS. I parallel these in groups of 6 then built 2 separate 6s packs. I charged them in parallel then used them in series as a 12s 12p battery. This worked out well for quite some time until I discharged ...

Re: Can we parallel BMSs to handle high current ?

Thanks for the guidance guys. My main motivations here were: Retaining the balance function when bulk charging bypassing the main discharge cutoff to avoid the 1.5c rate limit of these BMS units The added bonus benefits to the complex solution I have been asking about here are: Being lazy not wantin...

Re: Can we parallel BMSs to handle high current ?

My goal is to bypass the BMSs such that they cant actually shut off the packs. I need higher discharge rates than they allow but wouldnt mind using them as warning lights. The voltage scaling circuit would ideally take the main pack voltage and turn it into a signal that a cheap 3$ lipo alarm could ...

Re: Can we parallel BMSs to handle high current ?

Since this thread is already here I figured I'd piggyback onto it with a similar question. I bought 6 10s 5ah scooter packs all with their own BMS's. The BMS boards are nice and tidy and have temp sensing and status LEDs. They are pretty nice other than the low discharge limit of 7amps per. If I wer...

Re: Selfmade E-Hardtail (Just have a look ;)

Nice. So is the whole stator just pressed into the original lmx housing? Do you press it out or machine the housing down to just a small sleeve to install in your custom housing? Im pretty impressed with my 30mm lmx motor so far. I rode about 7km of repeated 4kw bursts from a dead stop yesterday. Wh...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Good idea regarding the temp display and turning off all the other options. I don't know why that wasn't obvious to me. I guess I fell into thinking you had to choose multiple things for it to toggle between. As for the voltage sag. Its to be expected. I'm pulling 4-6c from a lipo pack and they were...

Re: Honda CRF250R Conversion "The CRE?"

I think in cases like this things just have to fit where they fit. The position of the motor sprocket related to the swing arm pivot point and the rear sprocket all effect the amount of anti-squat you will get during acceleration. The diameters of the sprockets you will need on this project will pro...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Are the Plim and Alim gain adjustments both still in play at the same time during Current throttle? I'm still trying to tune out an oscillation that pretty much goes away in pass thru. It appears the A flag is on all the time under throttle which I thought was to be expected. I switched to pass thru...

Re: Revolt RV-series motor review and comparisons

Electric God I've been casually following this thread since the beginning but I may have missed it. Did you ever get to test the newest series of Revolt motors to compare to the old ones? I was under the impression there were basically 2 generations of these motors. I remember lots of people were di...

Zeurus, I don't want to derail the sale thread but I would love to see your work on that 30mm motor as well as some more specifics about power and heat you experienced. You do amazing work based on what I saw on that link in your signature. I'm super happy with the 30mm motor I bought from this sale...

Re: 80100 mid drive setup. Motor, ESC, belt reduction drive

Its currently 80kv in wye. Originally it was 130kv in delta. The 6 phase wire ends are all outside the motor with 4mm bullets on them so its easy to switch between Delta/wye. I hope I find a buyer as well. These rc drive are a bit old school on the ES these days. I always wanted one and once I got i...

Re: 2019 Black Friday Sales

Does look like that swagtron. The site says they were imbalanced from the start and that many of them came back just fine after being balance charged. The recommend them as a source to salvage the good cells from. Sounds like days of cycle testing to find the good ones but if someone had the time $5...

Re: Helicoil Length?

General guidelines for thread strength are based on how many time diameter the threads are engaged. Its probably just easier for them to call them out like that rather than listing a specific dia on every size. If you are installing a helicoil into a blind hole you are likely not going all the way t...

Re: Helicoil Length?

Im guessing its 1.5 times the dia. Or 2.5 times the dia.

So in this case 4mm times 1.5d would be 6mm long.

Ive always grabbed them from a bin and never had to pay attention to spec.

Re: Parallel help 36v razor e300

If you charge them both to the same voltage you can parallel them. They are likely both 10s li-ion packs. My green works packs are 42v right off the charger. I believe hoverboard packs are the same. You always want to avoid paralleling packs with different numbers of cells in series. Some companies ...

Bottom bracket mount are considered mid-drives. Its just a common location to hang a motor. A hub motor mounted anywhere other than a wheel would Be considered a mid-drive and be found in the non hub motor section of the forum. As far as I know all hub motors on the market are outrunners. Re: Beltbox?

In a permanent magnet brushless motor the wires are wound around the stator which doesnt move. The magnets are attached to the rotor which is where the output comes from. Outrunners are motors where the magnets spin around the outside of the stator. Many RC hobby motors are like this. Hub motors are...

Since we're talking LH drives, this is one of the most clever uses of space i've seen. Could be good for some inspiration.
