Re: Framed Alaskan Fat BBSHD Build Thread

Yes, I am currently using that BMS (the 320A version). It is in my build here:

Re: Framed Alaskan Fat BBSHD Build Thread

For the battery spot welding I've used the Malectrics spot welder which gave me pretty consistent results. The kWeld is another popular option on this forum. I recommend a bluetooth BMS to be able to monitor the cell groups and temperature etc... such as this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/329...

If you don't mind shipping from Europe:

I've ordered from bike24 (Germany) before and it was a smooth transaction.

Re: ebikling 1200w front hub

Sounds like you need to open up the motor to inspect it first to see where the noise is coming from. There are plenty of videos showing how to open an ebike hub motor. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LErhKbWJlE Be careful if you use something to pry the cover off. The copper motor wind...

Re: Battery cycles

Ya that is a good way to do it, then you can eek those last watt hours out of your pack without going under the low voltage limit. Some controllers will ramp down max power as you approach the low voltage cut off too.

Re: Battery cycles

For discharge, I cap it under load. The same way that most controllers would hit their low voltage cut-off and it prevents the cells from ever going over the "cliff".

Re: Drawing slightly over rated e bike battery amps

55A vs 50A isn't bad in general but it depends what cell configuration you are using and how conservative the 50A is in relation to the cell's max current ratings. If you have the option to turn it down, it definitely wouldn't hurt.

Re: PWD's Rocky Mountain Blizzard - mid drive

Just wanted to add some more photos. This bike is still running well and I have been getting out with it on the weekends to do some trail riding. I'm using my 14S6P triangle pack in the frame of the bike so I don't have to run a packsack battery. I'll probably switch back to the packsack for cold we...

Re: PWD's Rocky Mountain Element - refresh

The SuperMoto-X tire is working great and it noticeably taller than the previous tire I was running; which is good. Very happy. The tread pattern appears very similar to the Big Ben Plus which I'm running on the rear. In other news; I had damaged my BMS (heavy rain, not sealed) a while back and have...

Is the cruise button just a momentary on switch? If so; you can use any momentary on switch you like. Just test the cruise switch for continuity.

Re: PWD's Rocky Mountain Element - refresh

I've been out riding the bike (mostly) daily and it is performing well. The side offset (approximately 7mm) of the front tire was bugging me a bit and I had been itching for a wider front tire/rim as well. I had ordered a 26 x 2.4 Schwalbe SuperMoto-X to replace my 26 x 2.0 Schwalbe Marathon. The ne...

ESIR is not an objective absolute, so do not try to find different devices that give similar results IOW there is no "accuracy" best to strive for is consistency, especially wrt temperature. Just come up with your own systematic protocol with a given device that yields **consistent** results. And t...

Re: What resistor value is this (16S ANT BMS)

FWIW, the FET whose tab is connected to the pads the resistors mount on appears to be different in texture, which may simply be conformal coating, or it may be heat damage. There is a small square-looking line that may be a crack in the plastic where the smoke came out, and a round dimple between i...

Re: What resistor value is this (16S ANT BMS)

If you knew what type of thermistor was designed to go there, you could add it, and the software may have the function still in there (just disabled by default), or it could be a hardware-only function, which may require other components elsewhere on the board that may or may not be populated. Inte...

Thank you both for you analysis so far. I've removed the items and have cleaned up the board as much as I could: IMG_20200624_181325.jpg There is a marking on the board near the resistors that appears to say "RT1". The resistors (or whatever they may be) are in even worse shape on the underside. One...

Re: looking for programmable sine controller with flux weakening under $60 USD

Thanks for the info so far folks. The VESC projects look fantastic! Unfortunately, it seems that 13S pack voltage is their limit. I'm running 14S. So if you already have a controller that does the 120%, you can test the theory on your MP4, before buying something new that may not do what you want. ;...

Re: looking for programmable sine controller with flux weakening under $60 USD

Thanks for the reply amberwolf. I'm looking for flux weakening so that I can economically get a few more rpms out of a Magic Pie 4 without increasing pack voltage or buying a different motor with a higher rpm/volt. Perhaps "flux weakening" isn't the right term that I should be using. I have sometime...

looking for programmable sine controller with flux weakening under $60 USD

I'm on the hunt for a small (6fet sized) programmable controller sinewave controller that can do regen braking and flux/field weakening for under $60 USD. I'm planning on using 25A peak battery current and 70A peak phase current. I've looked at greentime and KT controller but it seems that they do n...
