I've 5 cyclone 500w in shed ---only the newest motor one i ride often as its motor is quite. On 3 others 1 i replaced gears others the grease .... that gluey thick stuff ----i ve come to the conclusion the armature spline wears down is what makes the noise ..gears do wear down as one can see the wea...

battery pack failure

This home made battery pack was under load to fail. In taking apart 2 cells seem to have got the pox or something has anyone had this happen. The pack did not have much use and i can blame the BMS for this happening.

Gloden motor battery.

Ive been offered a golden motor 36v battery 15 ah ,, very small , so that seems too bigger ah for size . thes are made for I think 300w motors & I intend to fit to my cyclone (960w if 36v) does any have tried this as to me I'd say the BMS woldnt handle the current once going up hill. Do these golden...

Re: Increasing Battery Voltage 36 to 48V

Yes i think the c rating of cells was not high enough and replacing the cell which i'm finding very hard to find the same size, Best as perhaps as this batteries weight made bike very heavy ,,, I buy another battery with higher continious current draw but an expesive way to go. If in an effort to re...

Re: Increasing Battery Voltage 36 to 48V

Thank you ,will test its type. With this cyclone bike that,s controller will not take this battery with it lowering its voltage so much . Well i just dismantled battery its not what i expected , Has 12 cells ( flat pack type) so each cell must be about 30ah .. One cell has a bad swelling indicating ...

Increasing Battery Voltage 36 to 48V

Hi all -----I have a 36v Li ( not sure its L-ion or lifepo4 ) battery . was sold to me as 30AH so has heaps of cells . The cyclone 960W ex e bike controller because its LVC is so high but goes well on 48 V (tested with acid batteries) & have talked to taiwan man all about it . ( he has also sent ano...

Re: Cyclone motor problems

Thanks all ,,, & that e bay controller will be last resort with its cost hoping he could describe how to wire to cyclone s complex wires. I've now proved it was the cells to the 36v battery breaking down as well as the controllers LVC . Even thrashing 4 SLA batteries as 48v they would go down to 30a...

Re: Cyclone motor problems

Where are you Zack as i thought rewinding would cost more than new. I am NZ . I did fit & sell cyclone for a while as hobby when they were the only mid drive even gave away 3 motors to 2 guys who eventually made a brush less controller for one ,took years. Br paco offered me motor for 100usd ----thi...

Re: Cyclone motor problems

well on the hill motor cut out , lights went out so its battery , shorted out bms then still it happened . I think i've had the 2 problems at once cells breaking down & that heat switch so i'll get 3 12v sla batteries yes with them. If the hill had a cliff I'd thrown it over.---Thnks again.

Re: Cyclone motor problems

Mighty thanks -----In looking at old e mails to Br Paco with lead acid batteries I had the same symptoms, (but not sure they were new battery so LVC would still turn off) This could be it. You''l here me cheer from way down here in NZ if it is. I joined the 2 together, put motor under load until BMS...

Cyclone motor problems

I have 960w 36v ext controller cyclone motor .(LifePo4 battery)Motor goes but after a short time with motor under load stops. Will not start again for a period but with disconnecting battery will spark & start again.Voltage does not drop below 34v so its not LVC. With shorting out BMS does the same ...

My first troubles with lithium batteries were BMS being the cheapest was only for low current & needed a higher current BMS . I've replaced heaps because of this.

I wouldn't leave any battery more than 4-8 weeks before recharge. I'd like to know this guy without BMS to see how long his cells all last . He Had what he called 1500w 48v I thought bafang mid-drive didn't get that big . Testing each cell when charging seems nut when a BMS can do that . I've made u...

Re: Without BMS

I've just bought another BMS & hate the job of installing with so many wires , the last one am sure is faulty . Once a guy came to me his 2 batery packs BMS s were too lower amp so he took the risk on one without it & that stuffed half the cells ( these are the big 10---12 ah ones ) ,then I fitted h...

Re: Motor shuts down

The only thing besides a damaged motor with not showing any burn to me it could be that the LIFePo4 battery suddenly cannot keep voltage high enough for the LVC . this I have had with old batteries & did not happen suddenly. I can only assume that the 3 & 4 SLA batteries i've tried ,not being ban ne...
