Re: GMAC vs MAC and Infineon vs Phaserunner

So Justin, when are we gonna see a tuaxle version of the GMAC? Paul/cell_man had a prototype shown at interbike 2015. It would be dope if you guys at grin can pick up the torch on this one. This would make us AWD ebike builders have more choices of front suspension forks for our AWD builds. =D

Re: GNG X1-pro 3000w

hmmmm I wish design is as such that you can adjust the gap between bb mounting hardware to accommodate wider bb shells. as of now it seems like the motor side cover with the windows on it sits on top of the mounting plate........ the bafang BBS-XX units are very versatile installation wise because y...

Re: Dual mid drive hub drive prototype

Wow......been 1 year since the last update...... how is everyone's build doing? This year, I totally rebuilt my mid drive hub drive cruiser. it's now an AWD bike still using the old ass GNG gen 2 mid drive and now instead of the old heavy Magic Pie 2 rear hub, I switch it to the newer MAC geared hub...

Also updated to a Phaserunner from the 12FET Infinity. After a bit of tuning, the MAC10T is virtually silent up to 100 watts. The audible noise level across the range is very quiet.
If you repack the planetary reduction with Mobile grease 28, it really deadens the gear noise.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

100% torque at 0 RPM... In my book that means snapped chains, bent motor mounts, bent frame, etc... aka: drivetrain mayhem... no thanks... I much rather achieve power (not torque) on these eBikes through the use of RPM than through brute force... Torque is the very thing I am trying to avoid so I d...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Thats twice the complexity, more shit to break... more stuff to go wrong... etc... no thanks... and why reinvent the wheel? That's why "gear reduction" was invented... so if you need more torque, you gear down, if you need more speed, you gear up... well I have a dual motor ebike for such duties. ;...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Holy cow! even luna cycle got their version of my setup. 3kw cyclone mid and a 500w-750w rear bafang geared hub motor on the rear. actually this is one way to reduce flex in that mid drive as the hub motor helps turn the wheel so that you don't use 100% of the mid drives power.

Cars with engines way more powerful than our ebikes have gears and they don't drive in 6th gear all the time... Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

And speaking of chain throwing and cheap chinese kits... why spend thousands of dollars on the ebike if the rest of your drivetrain are just entry level parts? This was one of the reason why I ended up with a Deore Shadow Plus derailleur plus SLX shifters. The difference between these and the entry...
