Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

It goes back to 1 when you press it again. At least that is how it works with my setup. I have one button for 1/2, one for 1/3 and one for whatever/R (that one goes back to the setting it had before R) In my case its always on 2 - or goes back to 2, with no option for 1... even having programmed 1 ...

Re: Revolt RV-series motor review and comparisons

too bad re the controller... Do you happen to have a similar spec/make trap controller kicking around? its hardly a uni-variant scientific study but will still give some indication of the difference between the nuk and some chinese cheap and cheerfull controller... given its a higher kv it suggests...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

hey all finally got my nuk on my surron - 2 imidiate questions though, does anyone know the thermal probe type in the motor + its pole count? and is it possible to swap the throttle and brake controls (ie so my 'brake' becomes my 'throttle' and visa versa). Am presently hunting through the wiki but...

Re: Revolt RV-series motor review and comparisons

main thought re rewind itself helping is a higher turn count will lower the rpm (presuming testing done at same voltage) which will also lower no load loss, if only because of reduced rpm. dont want to go saying the nuk has made x improvement if the turncount is doubled form the last 'stock' test :...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

. Watts = volts X amps Battery watts = battery voltage X battery amps Motor watts = battery voltage x phase amps This is obviously very incorrect, phase amps x battery voltage would result in more power output than power input from the battery. Torque is phase amps, if you want more 'kick' you need...

Re: Revolt RV-series motor review and comparisons

To calculate power in using phase amps I think you'd have to multiply it by the "apparent voltage" that the motor "sees", something I have no idea (or need) how to measure. It's simple... battery Voltage while running times battery Current. Since no load current is so low the copper losses are minu...

Re: Revolt RV-160-SH update

I have the RV-160-SH running on a 24 fet Nucular controller now. After a bit of set up, the motor is running great. At 82v I am seeing 6 battery amps and 10 phase amps under no load. It's not the best for efficiency as that's 820 watts just to run the motor. I'm sure with 3X the original copper cro...

Re: Sur-Ron 16kw outrunner

With phase to phase resistance, no load current at two voltage levels, KV and motor weight the motor can be characterised and performance accurately predicted at virtually any input conditions. Extensive batteries of tests aren't strictly needed, but feel free to do then anyway Easiest way to measu...

I couldn't find any options to buy separate motors from Sur-ron, unfortunately. But the other manufacturers have some interesting products... I spent the last few days resear...

Re: Batteries in series - will both BMS protect them from over-discharging?

unfortnatly will need far more info than that - the issue lies in how the BMS protects the batteries - this is done (99% of the time) with a solid state switch called a MOSFET. These mosfets have a certain voltage rating that when exceeded, cause them to fail (often with a lot of smoke). unless the ...

Me and my wife cheated at an indian restaurant, and it felt worse than any other cheat we've ever done. I realized that the food was very similar to my holier than thou vegetarian diet, since i'd based my diet then around this idealistic view of Indian vegetarianism, like many clueless westerners a...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

average. not continue. with 100v and stock gearing the surron will hit 80+ mph. if you design any EV, yes. go with very high voltage but also design the motor for it. high voltage on the surron motor brings efficiency down (up)to ~60% (if you ride it normal) (justins motor calculator show that pret...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

not really. 24s/100v is not the best idea. for hot rod, all time running @ 60mph maybe. but if your avg speed is more 30mph you run all time less efficient as the 16s/18s package. i think 18s would be the sweet spot and 20s acceptable. but i didnt expect something brillant from a guy who ask the su...

I readjusted to a looser tension, just a little give in the chain now.Its a little cooler and less noisy . has the chain been washed at any point? particularly with any solvents? also might be worth checking for any stiff links, particularly if a chain breaker has been used. Also check that the tens...

Re: Electric motors in the 100-500€ range and buying them in Europe

Motenergy make some really good motors, if its within your budget (with a decent controller) that'd be a monster on a gocart... Golden motors make some knockoffs of the motenergy - a bit cheaper, and lower quality as a result, but still 'good enough' for a lot of applications. The 3kw motor they off...

Re: Homopolar Switched Reluctance Motor

Taking the novel aspect of the construction as a given, im not seeing a huge benefit here (though I have to state I'm not a motor expert so I could easily be missing the forest for the trees). One HUGE benefit i see is 0 drag when not powered (applies to SR and induction motors in general). With th...
