Re: 2019 16" moped/scooter tire pop-off: which is the most puncture proof?

I lived in denver and colorado springs in my day and can tell you the goathead hell i deal with in Utah is nowhere near as bad.

Fall is goathead season though. So let's see how your bike tire fares after then. Cuz that's when bike tires go poppity pop for me nearly every ride here

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

First graph is a bit older but i'll take it. Last one is a projection. Got better data? One interesting thing of note is that we had a global huge dip in all sorts of energy usage.. one would think this would lead to reduced co2 output and less warming.. but it just didn't.. Here's one from the EIA....

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Sorry to throw things off track, and i haven't been following this thread for a while because it's been a lot of arguing for years. But ES has some great minds on it still and i have to ask this. I've been watching CO2 levels, ice melt, and energy use for something like a decade. Worldwide petroleum...

Re: Neppy's ozone/pm2.5 pollution remediating air filter setup - for pollution sensitive individuals.

I never considered using a rheostat. A rheostat is basically a variable resistor, no? it would generate a decent amount of waste heat and must be mechanically controlled. I'd have to have the arduino rotate the knob with a stepper motor or something. This is the cheapest and easiest solution, but i ...

Yes, something a lot more hardcore than the HPA300. Check out the filter on my 'junior' size austin air plus. It's wicked expensive, huge, and also about 9.5lbs. It will last years, so when you're thinking about cost over time, it's actually not THAT expensive. https://austinair.com/shop/healthmate-...

Re: Neppy's ozone/pm2.5 pollution remediating air filter setup - for pollution sensitive individuals.

If it's like every ohter "three speed" motor I've worked on in wall-powered fan systems, then it's an induction motor with multiple windings, and the switch just engages them in different ways. This is most likely the case, especially considering that the motor will not start spinning if you turn t...

Neppy's ozone/pm2.5 pollution remediating air filter setup - for pollution sensitive individuals.

Not sure if this is interesting to the ES audience, but i figured i'd give it a try. I live in the Salt Lake City, UT area and we have pretty horrific pollution in the winter and summer. We are not compliant with EPA rules going back all the way to 2012. There's lots of dust, wildfire smoke, refiner...

Re: 07/23/2020 DDOS attack on forum & fix - do you notice any complications?

Any pattern of what's been getting posted at the time? Like a poster suddenly gets angry? That's extremely time consuming and not worth looking into because taking action to remedy and prevent a future attack is 100x faster than going on a witch hunt. The results of a witch hunt need to result in l...

Re: 07/23/2020 DDOS attack on forum & fix - do you notice any complications?

I was browsing the forum at the time it happened. Didn’t know what the deal was, but it was obvious that something broke. I wonder what was the point? They wanted to take the server down by overloading the database with SQL injections that caused expensive queries to run. It was only partially effe...

07/23/2020 DDOS attack on forum & fix - do you notice any complications?

Hey all. The forum got hit by a pretty nicely designed DDOS last night. I went through and analyzed the traffic pattern and added some extra server rules which are quite restrictive. Do let me know if you have issues viewing and using the forum as a result. More particularly if images aren't loading...

Accutane is horrific. it's not unlike finasteride... you will look better.. but you have a high risk for permanent body injury.. a majority of people who use these drugs will say that it was not worth it at all. I honestly wonder how these products are still on the market at all. Keto cured me and m...

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

Went to file the dropout a bit to fit a motor and design a torque plate around the dropout and discovered this upon flipping the bike over. IMG_20200704_170214985.jpg I'm gutted. The gashes from the chain are easily 4mm deep. I would call the rear swingarm structurally unsafe under motor power. And ...

I'd like to help, but I am having trouble understanding what you are asking, I guess you are sort of using the thread as a brainstorm, but I think the concepts are a bit too abstract. You're right, i will retitle it in the future. Another thing is, aren't there open source forums that one could cod...

Thank you for your offer and support. The forum software would absolutely have a life beyond me. If it is as interesting to the world as i suspect it is, it won't be hard to find other people to form a team. I've formed and managed teams before. The software itself is designed to be easy to hack on ...

Are you looking for the battery pack to be made in the united states, or the pack and cells also? Because we don't really produce cells here in the United States, aside from some military-centric producers ( IE you can't buy them ), and companies like Tesla ( you also can't buy their cells outside o...

Re: I'm writing new forum software for us and others - any experienced php coders here?

Given the MySQL requirement, perhaps the most straightforward approach would be to leverage something like Ontop (see: https://github.com/ontop/ontop ) to provide a "virtual" graph on top of MySQL relational data. Might not be performant enough for real-time analytics, but certainly a tool that cou...

Hi Studebiker,
Your front tire looks quite large! What size did you use?
Thank you,
Frank
My guess: maxxis 16 x 2.0 tire. A real rarity though.

The largest tire i was able to fit was a fitbikeco 16 x 2.125. It was an extremely tight fit though!!

AW, Chrome, and it's variant that i use - Brave, remembers zoom settings on a site by site basis. It will work for you to increase the size of the fonts.
