Re: Tyres for commuter bike ? Schwalbe Marathon + disaster

I replaced the front tyre with a Schwalbe Marathon Plus as I was concerned about getting a flat and looked great. Rode great for a while but then the wire reinforcing split out the side and caused a flat - twice - so I gave up on it. No experience with that specific tire, but whenever I have had th...

I used to use a regular digital camera to video CrazyBike2's rides to various places around town, just to get some of the crazy / stupid things drivers do on camera so others could see what I had to deal with...but because its' a big cargo bike, I didn't get much of the behaviors compared to riding ...

Re: Who sells hub motors with L10 connectors Besides Ebike.ca

Who sells hub motors with L10 connectors Besides Ebike.ca? in the USA? If you look at their connectors page, you can see the various types they use, and links to the connector companies themselves. That extra information on the connector itself may help you find other products using it. They do sel...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Does anyone know if it's possible to set different speed limits for PAS and throttle? Not directly. You could create a preset for throttle use only, and a preset for PAS use only, and different speed limits/etc on each, and switch between them. The switching can be made automatic-ish by putting a s...

Or just power the CA off the "ignition" line to the controller. That way whenever the controller isn't getting power to it's brain, neither is the CA.

I don't know the specific answer, but these may help you (if you havent' already gone this path)

What exactly are the kP and kI settings for?

What other settings are related to them, and affect how the system operates when those two are changed?

I'd use the online chat at Mouser, Digikey, etc., and show them the pic and ask them which of their switches would replace those. I'm sure they can find you one pretty quick. :)

Before you change the controller, you can first just try setting your minimum throttle in the CA3's Throttle Out menu just a hair above what it takes to activate the motor.

Re: Neppy's ozone/pm2.5 pollution remediating air filter setup - for pollution sensitive individuals.

The austin air unit is very basic and only has 3 speeds. I am considering replacing the motor drive with a PWM controller If it's like every ohter "three speed" motor I've worked on in wall-powered fan systems, then it's an induction motor with multiple windings, and the switch just engages them in...

Re: Undersized Controller ??

I checked the no load Watts again and it is like you said, it goes up to around 200 watts as the rear wheel is spinning up then goes down to zero and stays there. I don't recall saying anything like that. So to be clear, the motor previously took 250 watts to spin it with no load. Now, something ha...

It's a 24V-10AH battery. I've had the bike for a few years and it worked fine. Then it *does* have a "riding range". Or at least, it did, when it "worked fine". When I just tried to ride it the other day is when I noticed this issue. Does this mean that the answer to the question: "Did it always ge...

There are plenty of electric motorcycles already out there, both commercial and custom-built by/for their riders. Lots of build threads on this forum you can read, ...

Re: Undersized Controller ??

No noises at all when running motor with bike upside down although the motor only draws 250 watts max when bike is upside down (no load basically). There's either something seriously wrong with the wattmeter, or the phase/hall wiring combination is wrong. It shouldn't draw more than around 1-2 amps...

Re: Need help identifying custom color wires on the controller

Thanks for your reply, they were connected and labeled, and re attached the same way. I don't think that's the issue, is more like a play of the wheel. If it's play in the wheel, then that's a mechanical problem you have to physically fix, and no service mode or setting can possibly help you with t...

Re: Hard Shutdown letting off throttle or applying brake

As far as "taking the leads off" goes, if you mean the balance leads, you don't want to use or charge the pack that way, as you can overdischarge or overcharge the cells, and damage them, and create a fire risk. A balance problem is not likely to be caused by the BMS needing to be reset, it's caused...

Re: Need help identifying custom color wires on the controller

If the motor wires were reconnected differently than before, then that is probably what is causing it. If they're in connectors that can't be re-ordered then it's less likely, but a lot of scooters use bolt-on phase wire connections, so all that has to happen is the wires get bolted back on in a dif...

Re: What is the optimum buid for a long range light motorbike/ebike?

I am not quite convinced that air drag can affect the distance so much considering everything else remained the same. There's a lot of documentation out there showing that it most certainly does; the faster you go the more of it there is, and beyond around 20-25mph-ish, it starts to get serious. Yo...
